Here are the newest corrections cadets at York County Jail. They chatted over coffee with county leadership on Friday, Sept. 29 and then paused for a photo ahead of the start of classes at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham on Oct. 2. New corrections officers undergo five weeks of training, followed by 80 hours job shadowing prior to working on their own.
In front, from left, are cadets David Temple, Andy Leary, Christina Cason and Jacob Melendez. In the back are York County Jail Administrator Major Nathan Thayer, York County Manager Gregory Zinzer, cadets Brian Succi, James Fitzgerald, Shelley Melendez, and Rene “Al” Melendez, along with York County Sheriff William King and Chief Deputy Jeremy Forbes. Cadets Nicholas Macdonald and Justyn Winn were unavailable.
