It’s fair week in Maine, with the 151st Cumberland County Fair underway and lobster week getting started to kick off the fall season. Weather is a topic on everyone’s mind going into this week and into next week for the legendary Fryeburg Fair.

A large area of high pressure is dropping down from eastern Canada to provide us with the best weather you could imagine. We will even see temperatures rise to above the averages toward the end of the week into next weekend. Look for a few cool nights, but nothing terribly cold. Mostly mild afternoons are on tap, with temperatures up into the 70s away from the coastline, which stays cooler. It’ll be perfect for going to your favorite fair or getting in some early leaf-peeping.

Let’s start things off with the Cumberland County Fair on Monday. I expect a cooler and breezy day along the coastline, so grab a jacket if you are headed out. It will be dry all day, though, so no umbrella is needed.

Conditions improve each day into the rest of the week with a run for 70 by Wednesday and sunglasses needed.

It’s all courtesy of that big ridge I mentioned earlier – it will move in from the northwest and keep us dry.

That means plenty of lobster will be served at your favorite restaurants this week, discounted by some establishments. Here are a few locations around Maine to hopefully get some lobster outdoors.

Don’t forget the Fryeburg Fair is right around the corner – it kicks off Oct. 1, with incredible weather expected next week, too.

If pizza is more your thing, the weather will be perfect for that, too with cheese, Margherita and Detroit-style all on the menu this week.

We won’t see any rain the next seven days in Maine thanks to that big H on the map.

I’m describing this week’s weather with words I’ve never used before.

Yes, it’s really going to be great in Maine all week long. Enjoy.
