Storm threat doesn’t stop Rotary golf tournament
The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club hosted its 14th Annual Golf Classic at Bridgton Highlands Country Club Sept. 16. The tournament went ahead despite the threat of Tropical Storm Lee and all but one golfer turned up as planned, with 10 last-minute additions.
Junior Rotarians and Lake Region High School students Susie and Jack Butler and Sera Travis hosted the 50/50 raffle whose proceeds will help fund a service mission to Colombia in the coming spring to work with children in partnership with young Rotarians in that country. The winner of the raffle, Joanne Cohn, donated her winnings back to the fund to bring the total raised to $500.
Maine Lakes Brewfest set for Sept. 30

The last Saturday in September is approaching, which means it’s time for the 19th Maine Lakes Brewfest. The festival goes from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Ham Complex, 40 Brag Way off Route 302.
Nearly two dozen local beers are featured and live music will be played by Carbon 14 and Wintery Mix. This is a 21-plus event and tickets are sold only online, $45 or $10 for a non-drinking ticket. None will be sold at the gate. To learn more and purchase tickets, go to gblrcc.org/brewfest.
Community Fuel Bank seeking donations
The Bridgton Fuel Bank, operated by the Community Center, is seeking donations for the fund to provide Bridgton residents with fuel to heat their homes during the upcoming winter.
A one-time delivery of 100 gallons of emergency fuel, or the equivalent in wood or pellets, is available for those who may need it. Last year, 29 local families were helped by the fund and a greater need is anticipated this year.
The program relies on donations from the public. To contribute to the Fuel Bank, go to the Community Center website, bridgtoncommunitycenter.org, or visit the center’s Facebook page. Donations may also be dropped off at the center, located at 15 Depot St.
Tom Petty tribute at Music on Main
Bridgton’s free concert series, Music on Main, continues Saturday, Sept. 23, with Tom Petty tribute band Runnin’ Down a Dream and the rock ‘n’ roll tunes of Small Craft Advisory.
The concert starts at 6 p.m. and wraps up around 9 p.m. Food and beverages will be available from local vendors, including Sunflower Farm Pizza, Mainly Melts, Sook Thai Mobile Kitchen and Stella’s on the Square.
The venue is located at 144 Main St. Attendees should bring their own chairs.
American Legion pancake breakfast
Pancakes, sausages, coffee and juice are on the menu at the public breakfast hosted by the Bridgton American Legion Post 67 Oct. 7.
The food will be served up at the Bridgton Community Center from 8 to 11 a.m. A suggested donation of $8 per person is recommended. Proceeds from the breakfast will support local veterans as well as youth and community programs.

New hours for North Bridgton Family Practice
North Bridgton Family Practice has new hours of operation. General practice and the walk-in clinic are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Patients do not need to have an existing relationship with the practice, Bridgton Hospital or Central Maine Healthcare to use walk-in clinic services.
