South Portland will hold forums and an open house next month to give community members a chance to weigh in on the development of the city’s new comprehensive plan.
The comprehensive plan is a guiding document that will help shape the city’s planning and policies over the next 15 years.
The Bike-Pedestrian Committee and city staff members will host a public forum from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 3 to inform attendees how the city is approaching its road network. An early look at the comp plan’s vision statement, with a chance to give feedback on it, will also be provided. That forum will be held at the Municipal Services Facility at 929 Highland Ave..
On Oct. 4, the Comprehensive Plan Committee will hold two forum sessions to gather input on infrastructure and redevelopment issues in the Cash Corner area and on the Fore River waterfront. The first session runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and the second from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., both at the Cash Corner Fire Station.
On Oct. 18, a Comprehensive Plan Open House will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at South Portland High School. Community members are invited to learn more about what a comprehensive plan is and how it is made, and to provide feedback. The drop-in event will take place in the high school’s cafeteria.
