SACO — The city of Saco is responding to a grievance petition filed by residents who are unhappy with how the planning board has handled its review of the Lincoln Village development by holding a public hearing. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Saco City Hall.
The Lincoln Village development is a proposed 332-unit residential development on 321 Lincoln St., which currently has about 56.7 acres of undeveloped area. The planning board first reviewed the initial site plan in fall 2022. From there, the development moved through the municipal approval process, including a series of public hearings about the proposed site.
On August 11, 172 community members submitted a petition to the city clerk calling for the city council to address bias and failure of due process concerns about the May and June planning board meetings.
The petition asks that the Saco City Council look at the the manner in which some members of the Saco Planning Board and city staff conducted themselves during deliberations regarding the Lincoln Village Subdivision. It asks that the council deal with the matter as “they are ultimately responsible for the actions of their appointed city officials and city staff.”
