Four candidates are vying for three at-large seats on the Scarborough Town Council in the Nov. 7 election. Incumbents Jon Anderson and Jean-Marie Caterina will defend their seats against challengers Donald Cushing and Scott Doherty.
Councilor John Cloutier is not running for re-election.
“I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to serve the residents of Scarborough over the last four years,” Cloutier wrote in a statement to The Forecaster. “The decision to not seek re-election was a difficult one for me, but it felt like the right time to refocus my energy and allow new voices to step into this role. I plan to experience our beautiful state a little more fully this winter and to spend some quality time with family. Scarborough’s future is bright, and what a privilege it was to help shape a piece of it.”
Cloutier was elected to a one-year term on the council in 2019 and was reelected in 2020. He has also served as council chairperson.
