Regarding the Associated Press story of Aug. 29 (“Conservative groups devise plan to dismantle U.S. government and replace it with Trump’s vision”):

If you love our country, want to preserve our republic and your right to vote, pay attention to those who would take all of this from you.

They call themselves “conservative,” but they are radical. The Heritage Foundation led the preparation of a 1,000-page handbook on how to take over our government. They hope to reelect former President Donald Trump to carry out their agenda. “I am your warrior, I am your justice … For those who have been wronged and betrayed … I am your retribution,” Trump said in June.

Are anger and retribution the American way? We’ve seen these tactics throughout history: condemn the press, silence free speech, favor the upper class at the expense of the poor, fire those who don’t agree.

Why do U.S. “conservatives” use these tactics? Apparently, they refuse to consider what others think – which is essential to our Constitution. “Conservatives” make wealth available to the upper class at the expense of the poor by favoring huge corporations and limiting oversight by the IRS. Does this tactic benefit you? Now the Senate refuses to appoint new military leaders (roughly 300 promotions have been blocked) to replace retirees.

A true conservative appreciates our history, our Constitution and our laws as we learn and step toward the future.
