The Maine Professional Drivers Association announced that it will hold an appreciation event, in conjunction with the Maine State Police, for truck drivers on Monday, Sept. 11 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to kick off National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.

The event will be held at the southbound scale facility on I-95 in Kittery. The association will have volunteers serving lobster rolls donated by organization, along with chips (provided by Brown Dog Carriers), fruit (provided by ADUSA Transportation) and bottled water (provided by Poland Spring).
The Maine State Police will be available to answer any questions drivers may have. There will be no inspections preformed at the site during the event.
The Maine Professional Drivers Association, in an Aug. 31 news release, said it “would like to thank the Maine State Police for the use of their scale facility. All drivers and their families are welcome to come. We can’t wait to see you.”
American Legion Post 413 to host art fair
Stewart Morrill American Legion Post 413 will host an art fair on Saturday, Sept. 16. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Avita of Stroudwater, whose therapeutic art classes are a favorite activity for residents, will be the beneficiary of the event.
The art fair will feature many local artists, including Diane Atwood, Paul Devive, Don Durnam and Fred Mafigri.
