GIRLS

Cary Drake, York senior: Drake is the defending Class B state champion and led the Wildcats to a team state title. She was third at Festival of Champions and, as a sophomore, placed fifth in the New England meet.

Allie Hesler, Bonny Eagle senior: Hesler finished third in Class A last fall to help the Scots win a fourth consecutive state championship. At the New England meet she placed 55th overall, ninth among Maine runners.

Molly Kenealy, York senior: Kenealy placed fourth in Class B last fall to help the Wildcats secure their program’s first state title, a week after placing third in the South regional. She placed 68th in New England and 17th at Festival of Champions.

Hadley Mahoney, Cape Elizabeth senior: Mahoney was runner-up in Class B South last fall before missing the state meet because of illness. As a sophomore she won Class B and placed fourth in New England. She continues to recover from an injury that caused her to miss outdoor track. Expect a return to racing by October.

Sarah McClellan, Marshwood senior: McClellan placed fifth in Class A last fall to help the Hawks finish second in the state to Bonny Eagle. At Festival of Champions she placed 15th among returning Maine runners.  As a sophomore, she was third in Class A.

Samantha Moore, Portland junior: Moore was runner-up in Class A last fall and earned all-New England honors, placing 20th overall. In the recent SMAA Relays, she posted the fastest time of any girl.

Abigail Roberts, Lake Region senior: After two years of varsity soccer, Roberts transitioned to cross country last fall and wound up placing fifth in Class B. In the recent Dan Dors Invitational in Naples, she bested the field by more than two minutes.

Addy Thibodeau, Bonny Eagle senior: Thibodeau won the Class A regional and state meets last fall to lead the Scots to their fourth straight championship. She placed 10th in New England, third among Mainers after Orono’s Ruth White and MDI’s Amelia Vandongen.

Kallie Warner, Bonny Eagle senior: Warner placed sixth in Class A to help the Scots win their eighth state title over a span of 10 seasons. She finished 15th at Festival of Champions and was 82nd at the New England championship meet.

Emma Young, Cape Elizabeth senior: Young placed third in Class B South to help the Capers win a tightly-contested regional title. She finished seventh at the state meet and 42nd in New England, sixth among runners from Maine.

Nathan Blades, Portland senior: Blades won the Class A South title to lead the Bulldogs to a regional championship. He placed fifth in the state meet and earned all-New England honors with a top-25 finish, first among Maine runners.

Harrison Dunne, Bonny Eagle junior: Dunne placed ninth at the Class A South regional meet and was ninth among returning runners statewide in Class A. He was named to the all-SMAA second team.

Walker Hedrich, Camden Hills junior: Hedrich finished 19th in Class A to lead the Windjammers to third place in the state. He was 13th in Class A North and ranks 10th among returning runners statewide in Class A.

Maddox Jordan, Noble senior: Jordan was runner-up in both Class A South and the state meet last fall. He placed 58th overall in New England, fifth among runners from Maine. In indoor track, he won the 800 and the mile. In outdoor track, he won state titles at 800 and 1,600 meters and placed third in New England at 1,600.

Ben Klingle, Brunswick senior: Klingle placed sixth in Class A North last fall to help the Dragons finish second to eventual state champ Hampden Academy. In spring outdoor track, he finished fifth at 1,600 meters in Class A. He won the recent Panther Two Miler in Waldoboro over a six-school field of 88.

Sam Laverdiere, Lake Region junior: Laverdiere placed sixth in Class B last fall and qualified for the New England meet. He also placed 12th at Festival of Champions, fourth among returning Maine runners. In outdoor track he won the Class C 3,200-meter title while competing for St. Dominic Academy.

Carter Libby, Gray-New Gloucester senior: Libby is the defending Class B state champion. He was Maine’s ninth finisher at the New England meet. He plays basketball in winter and placed second at 1,600 and third at 3,200 meters in outdoor track last spring.

Xavier Lemieux, Bonny Eagle senior: Lemieux placed fourth in the Class A state meet as well as in the South regional. He finished 59th overall in New England, sixth among runners from Maine. In outdoor track he was third at 3,200 meters in Class A.

Aidan Ring, York junior: Ring placed eighth in Class B last fall and fifth among returning runners to help the Wildcats finish second as a team. He was 137th in New England, 12th among Maine runners. In outdoor track he was fourth at 3,200 meters in Class B.

Will Spaulding, Freeport senior: Spaulding finished fifth in Class B to help the Falcons successfully defend their state title. He also placed fifth in Class B South. At the New England meet he was 14th among Maine runners, 140th overall.
