Joey Foley plowed in from the 1 late in the third quarter for his second touchdown of the game, breaking a 7-7 deadlock as Deering opened its season with a 17-7 victory over Marshwood in South Berwick.

After winning just one game in the previous two seasons combined, the Rams matched that total in their first game under their new coach, former Massabesic Athletic Director Brendan Scully.

Foley opened the scoring with an 11-yard run late in the first half.

Marshwood tied it on its first drive of the second half, capped by Ryan Essex’s 17-yard touchdown run.

But Deering regained the lead on Foley’s second TD, and Christian Silva added a 20-yard field goal with 4:57 remaining.

WINDHAM 35, SKOWHEGAN 0: Marcus Tillery rushed for three touchdowns and nearly 200 yards in the first half, leading the Eagles past the River Hawks in Skowhegan.

Windham led 14-0 after the first quarter, thanks to a 40-yard punt return for a touchdown by Tobias Perkins and a 71-yard TD by Tillery.

Tillery added two more scores in the second quarter to make it 28-0.

After extending their lead to 35-0 in the third, the Eagles preserved their shutout with a goal-line stand as the quarter ended.

NOBLE 33, EDWARD LITTLE 14: Jamier Rose rushed for four touchdowns and passed for another as he directed the Knights to a win in the first game on Edward Little’s new field in Auburn.

Edward Little struck first in the second quarter on a 7-yard pass from Jacob Grealish to Bennett DuBois. Rose answered with his first two touchdowns, from 22 yards and then from the 1, to put Noble in front at halftime, 13-7.

Rose connected with Tommy Gagnon for a TD pass in the third quarter, then broke free for a 58-yard run in the fourth that made it 26-7.

Edward Little answered with a 44-yard touchdown reception by DuBois, but Rose clinched the win with another 1-yard run.

WESTBROOK 36, BIDDEFORD 20: Marcus Green and Aiden Taylor scored on fumble recoveries during a 22-point fourth quarter that carried the Blue Blazes past the Tigers in an opener at Westbrook.

Green recovered a fumble in the end zone and Taylor returned a fumble 50 yards for Westbrook, which also got touchdowns from Gavin Tanner on runs of 22 and 10 yards, and from Giovanni Staples on a 1-yard run.

Gino Mariello scored from 1 yard, then passed 62 yards to Travis Edgerton for a score, and Riley Lawless added a 1-yard scoring run for Biddeford, which took a 20-14 lead in the third quarter.

Tanner rushed for 185 yards on 21 carries.

LEAVITT 45, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 8: Will Keach ran for two touchdowns and caught another for Leavitt in a victory against the Raiders in Turner.

Leavitt quarterback Noah Carpenter threw for a TD and ran for another score.

Carpenter and Keach each had a rushing TD in the first quarter to give Leavitt a 14-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Keach caught an 80-yard pass from Carpenter, and Carpenter added a 31-yard field goal to extend the lead to 24-0.

Cohen Carter found Logan Walton in the third quarter to get Fryeburg Academy on the board. Walton caught the 2-point conversionm pass to cut the deficit to 24-8.

Keach ran in from 35 yards to make it 30-8 later in the third quarter.

Brian Bilodeau took a punt 52 yards to the end zone, and Leavitt had a 38-8 lead in the fourth quarter. Ian Garcia added a 5-yard touchdown run and Dane Cabral caught the 2-point conversion pass to cap the scoring.

BONNY EAGLE 50, MASSABESIC 3: Terrell Edwards accounted for five touchdowns – three rushing and two passing – as the Scots routed the Mustangs in Standish.

Edwards was 13 of 15 passing for 154 yards, including a 16-yard TD pass to Brandt Abbott and a 31-yard scoring strike to CJ Cooper. Edwards also had touchdown runs of 10, 1 and 18 yards, and was the leading rusher with 75 yards on 12 carries. Cooper rushed three times for 66 yards and caught five passes for 68 yards.

Kyle Blaney and Ben Augustino each scored from 17 yards out in the second half.

Parker Soule-Parent kicked a 30-yard field goal for Massabesic in the first quarter.
