KENNEBUNK – Nearly 430 registered for the 26th Edition Kennebunk Free Library 5K that was held Friday, July 14 and total of 370 runners and walkers from 13 states completed the course, including a section that winds back to Fletcher Street via the Hope Woods and Cemetery Trail.

The event is one of the library’s top fundraisers each year. Combining registrations and the contributions of over 75 sponsors, the 5K accounts for nearly 25 percent of the $200,000 the library must raise each year to support the library and its programs. Event Sponsor is Kennebunk Savings Bank; and Diamond Sponsors are Appliance Advantage/Aspire Home and Crotux Catering/Garden Street Bowl.
Zach Hartman of Kennebunk placed first overall with a time of 17 minutes, 22 seconds. He was followed by Steven Fritsche, Kennebunk (17:31), and Shiloh Schulte, Kennebunk (18:29).
Lauren Drigotas of Kennebunkport prevailed in the women’s division and was eighth overall in 21:34. Laurie Gaudreau of Springvale (22:23) was runner-up, followed by Meghan Young of Wells (22:29).
