LEWISTON — Police in Lewiston were called Friday to investigate two separate crashes involving pedestrians, as well as a toddler falling from a window, according to a news release.
Pedestrian Bruce Martin, 35, of Lewiston was hit by a vehicle around 9 p.m. near 855 Lisbon St., according to Lewiston police spokesman Derrick St. Laurent.
Witnesses told police “the vehicle involved had fled the scene,” according to St. Laurent.
The driver, Jeena Garant of Lewiston, turned herself in at the police station around 11 p.m. and cooperated with the investigation. St. Laurent said she was charged with aggravated leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident and aggravated operating under the influence.
Martin was in serious condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland, he said.
Earlier, police responded to a call about an adult male pedestrian who was struck and killed by a commercial vehicle on Main Street between Bates and Park streets.

On Saturday, St. Laurent said the 64-year-old man died from what was likely an “intentional act.” Investigators came to the conclusion after performing witness interviews and viewing nearby surveillance footage, he said. The identity of the man has not been released.
Police also responded to 82 Pine St. around 6 p.m. for report of a 3-year-old who fell out of a fourth-floor window.
St. Laurent said the child was brought to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment of minor injuries. No other details were provided.
