NEW HIRES

Glenn Prickett was named president and CEO of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland. Prickett brings to his new role over 35 years of experience in the environmental sector, most recently serving as president and CEO of the World Environmental Center, which works internationally to increase sustainable development. Prior to that position, he worked at the Nature Conservancy, Conservation International and the U.S. Agency for International Development. With experience in ocean-focused sustainable initiatives, Prickett will work to advance the institution’s mission of solving environmental challenges to Maine’s coast and to oceans more broadly.

St. Joseph’s College of Maine appointed Joe Cassidy as its new president, effective Aug. 1. Cassidy previously served as president of Southern Maine Community College for six years, with a prior five-year stint as president of Washington County Community College. During Cassidy’s tenure at SMCC, he led the college through the COVID-19 pandemic, an expansion of the Brunswick campus and an increase in the college’s workforce training programs. He also developed partnerships with nonprofits including the Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center, Prosperity Maine and In Her Presence.

Southern Maine Health Care announced Kathryn Cope as its chief operating officer. Since 2019, Cope had served as the vice president of operations and critical care at Maine Medical Center, after starting at MMC in 2012. Cope brings more than 25 years of experience in health care operations and service strategy. She holds a B.A. in economics and classics from Bowdoin College and an MBA from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Brianna C. Russell has joined Russell Family Dentistry in Portland as a fourth-generation family member of the practice. Russell holds her DMD from Boston University, where she graduated magna cum laude. The Russell Family Dentistry practice started in 1964 with Russell’s great-grandfather.

UScellular named Tyler Gawrys as sales manager of its Westbrook store at Rock Row and Payton Austin sales manager for the Scarborough store on Gallery Boulevard. Gawrys has more than four years of wireless assistance experience, and Austin has more than 10 years.

PROMOTIONS

The Maine Forest Service appointed Morten Moesswilde as the division director for its Forest Policy and Management Division. He had held the position on an interim basis since February and has almost 30 years of experience in forestry and natural resource management. He joined the MFS in 1999, and held various positions with responsibilities that included managing the Forest Stewardship Program, mitigating water resource problems, consulting public groups on conservation practices and directing MFS outreach and education.

BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Hussey Seating Co. has appointed David Leopold and Gary Merrill to its board of directors, effective Jan. 1, 2024. Leopold has decades of experience in the insurance and telecommunication business sectors, most recently acquiring Criterium Engineers, an engineering consulting firm, in 2018. He has a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania as well as an MBA from Harvard University. Merrill will step down as the CEO of Hussey Seating on July 1 after 30 years of experience with the company, and will also take on a new board position.

The Philanthropic Educational Organization appointed Sarah Resah Wilson to its Northeast District Chapter Executive Board, serving as secretary. Resah Wilson currently works at the Bernstein Shur law firm in Portland. PEO is an international organization dedicated to supporting women through grants and scholarships to help fund their education.
