Letter to the editor: Assault weapons ban has become my single issue

I am grateful to Rep. Chellie Pingree, who has taken a stand that is important to me: She supports a ban on assault weapons. I have decided that I will never again vote for someone who does not agree to make assault weapons illegal. I have long admired Sen. Angus King’s leadership on many fronts, but until he takes a lead on this issue, he will never again get my vote.

“Do you support a ban on assault weapons?” will be the question I put to every candidate looking for my vote. The answer better be “yes,” or I will write in the name of Chellie Pingree on my ballot.
