It is time for partisan politics to stop on all issues. Politicians need to remember that they were elected to serve the people, not themselves or their party.

There seems to be no mention at the moment that the national debt ceiling was raised three times under the previous administration with no discussion or fights. But now, they want to make unreasonable demands to make themselves “appear” to be working, regardless of how many Americans will be severely hurt if there is a default.

If there is a default, the very first thing that should stop is all pay and benefits to all members of Congress and their staff.

It is high time for all those in Washington, and in state legislatures, to be reminded for whom they work: the American people.
