The United Way of Southern Maine, a human services, community-focused nonprofit with offices in Portland and Kennebunk, has added three new staff members.

• Nakesha Warren-Colbry has joined the nonprofit as homeless services hub coordinator for its Cumberland County Hub, supporting MaineHousing’s redesign of the homeless services response system in Maine. Warren-Colbry brings a diverse background in nonprofit management, training and facilitation to this role.

• Devin Birks has joined UWSM as marketing manager. Birks graduated from University of Maine with a degree in business administration and marketing.

• Scott Oliver has been hired as finance support manager. He has a background in accounting and 16 years of experience as a statistical reporting analyst.

Casco Bay Wealth Advisors, an investment management and financial planning firm with four Maine offices, has hired Alexander Mills as a financial adviser. He was previously employed with Baystate Financial.

Beverly Wood

Beverly Wood has joined Northern Light Mercy Hospital as a physician assistant at its primary care offices in South Portland. Wood has over 30 years of experience in family practice and has worked in a variety of health care settings, including primary care, urgent care and hospital-based clinics. She holds certifications and licenses from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, the Maine Board of Medicine, and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and a physician assistant certificate from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

Fulton Rice has joined Portland-based law firm Murray Plumb & Murray as an associate attorney. Rice, whose practice focuses on real estate and corporate matters, is a graduate of the University of Maine School of Law. While a student, he interned at Disability Rights Maine and worked for the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. Most recently, Rice served as an attorney for another Portland law firm.

The University of New England has hired Jim Irwin as senior vice president of finance and administration. He brings nearly three decades of professional experience to UNE, having served in both corporate and higher education settings. For the past four years, he was the chief financial offer and vice president for business and finance at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. Irwin also held positions at Claremont Graduate University, the University of La Verne, LA Fitness International and KPMG. He holds a master’s degree in leadership and management from the University of La Verne and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Riverside. Irwin is also a certified public accountant. He will start his new role on July 1.

PROMOTIONS

Skowhegan Savings Bank has promoted Vicki Alward, chief risk officer, and Dan Tilton, head of sales and customer relations, to executive vice president roles. Alward has been with the bank for 17 years, starting as vice president of risk management in 2006 and then taking responsibility for the operations and retail teams. In 2015, she was promoted to senior vice president and chief risk officer. Tilton joined the bank in 2015 as the senior vice president of sales and customer service and oversees the retail banking and lending teams for the bank. He came to Skowhegan Savings with over 18 years of sales experience, including roles with Pride Manufacturing, in Burnham, and Blackstream Creative, based in Tennessee.

Nikia Levesque

Nikia Levesque, Day’s Jewelers’ vice president of marketing, was named among the Jewelers of America’s “20 Under 40 in Jewelry Retail” list. The national program recognizes young professionals who exemplify leadership  and commitment in the field of jewelry retail. Levesque began her career at Day’s in 2013 as a seasonal sales associate. In 2019, she completed an internship with the merchandising department, and then became the marketing coordinator in the corporate office in Waterville. She was promoted to marketing manager in 2021 and then to her role as vice president last year.
