People who use drugs don’t deserve to die. Opiates don’t give second chances, so the old adage of letting them reach rock bottom doesn’t apply – it means sudden, irreversible death. Last year, 716 Mainers slipped away from us without their second chances. They didn’t have time to work on the underlying reasons they used drugs. Imagine if they were given more time.

Harm reduction health centers provide a safety net for people who use drugs while connecting them to other services. Centers will have medical staff, drug testing strips, certified recovery support specialists, case managers and counselors to provide additional support.

Call our state representatives and senators to vote in favor of L.D. 1159 to prevent overdoses in Maine.
