Piper Shores announced last week that Chief Operating Officer/Administrator Leanne Fiet has been named the vice chair of the LeadingAge Maine, New Hampshire board of directors.
LeadingAge Maine New Hampshire is an association representing more than 50 mission-driven senior living and long-term care providers in Maine and New Hampshire. Fiet has been a board member of the association for two years and chief operating officer/administrator at Piper Shores for five.
“The mission of LeadingAge is something I feel strongly about,” said Fiet in a news release. “It’s so important to stay relevant and be part of solutions in the field. LeadingAge is all about making the field of aging better. It’s an honor to be part of making that vision a reality.”
LeadingAge Maine, New Hampshire is an affiliate of LeadingAge which represents more than 5,000 nonprofit aging services providers and other mission-minded organizations. LeadingAge stays current on critical issues like funding, financing and government relations while also focusing on big issues like workforce development.
This spring, Fiet played a role in launching the Emerging Leaders retreat in Portland with 15 participants. The program was modeled after LeadingAge National Leadership Academy, which supports these types of events all across the country on a much larger scale in order to discuss critical issues and strategic priorities. The training focuses on self-exploration and relationship development for leaders in the aging services profession.
“I’m looking forward to continued opportunities to connect with peers and advance the goals of the profession,” said Fiet.
Prior to joining Piper Shores, Fiet spent 15 years with a senior care management company; 11 years in a long-term care division of an acute care hospital system; and seven years with a residential care special needs community. She has been involved with LeadingAge National and other advocacy organizations for the past 25 years and a member of LeadingAge Maine, New Hampshire since she started at Piper Shores in June of 2018.
Fiet is originally from Michigan, but made Maine her home in 2018. She has a bachelor’s degree in special education and teaching from Hope College and a master’s degree in human services administration from Rider University.
