Doris “Dolly” Rita Tripp

SACO – Doris “Dolly” Rita Tripp passed away on May 3, 2023, at Atlantic Heights in Saco at the age of 93.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1929, the daughter of Ernest and Lena Bossie Beaudoin. She graduated from Thornton Academy in 1948 and married Ronald Tripp on July 1, 1949.

Dolly was a homemaker, and for over 40 years also worked at the Cascade Inn in Saco. She was an accomplished seamstress, and won several sewing contests. She made her daughters’ clothes, coats and doll clothes, as well as draperies and other items. Dolly was admired as a fabulous baker, her specialty being pies and yeast breads. She especially enjoyed working in her asparagus bed and among the raspberry bushes. An independent woman, she had a wonderful sense of humor and a strong work ethic.

For several years, she was a volunteer at the Wardwell Home and was a member of the United Baptist Church in Saco. She enjoyed the camaraderie of her former neighborhood ladies in the Francena Club. She was also a member of Biddeford’s 50+ Club, where she knit for charity. She loved spending time with her family at their numerous gatherings.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald K. Tripp on March 14, 2012, sister Theresa Beaudoin Tripp and three brothers, Paul, Ernest, Jr. and Donald.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Simpson of Lee, NH, Carol Scott and her husband Jeffrey of Lyman, Mary Jane Tripp of Saco, and Kathleen Lambert and her husband Mark, also of Saco.
