The Cumberland and North Yarmouth Lions Club has named Peter K. Bingham their 2022 Citizen of the Year in honor of his decades of volunteer work.
Bingham has been a member of the SAD 51 School Board, Cumberland Town Council, Cumberland Planning Board, Twin Brook Committee and numerous comprehensive plan committees. He is a member of the Lions Club, treasurer of the Cumberland Historical Society and has filled various volunteer roles at Cumberland Congregational Church, St. Luke’s Cathedral, the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Portland Yacht Club.
A U.S. Army veteran who was awarded the Meritorious Service Bronze Star Medal while serving in Vietnam, Bingham has been married to Constance Creighton since 1968, and together they have three children and three grandchildren.
