“It’s rare for my bedside table to be holding only one book; now there are three: a novel, a nonfiction and an autobiography. Each has something of a spiritual nature.

“‘This Present Darkness,’ by Frank E Peretti (1986), is a compelling story of warfare by graphic figures. ‘Journey of Souls,’  by Michael Newton (1994), is Newton’s account of his conversations with the spirits of people who have passed on, and ‘Becoming,’ by Michelle Obama (2018), is a delightful account of her life to this point.

“These are the three books currently on my bedside table. Another book recently came my way in the mail: ‘The Wonder of Aging – A New Approach to Embracing Life After Fifty,’ by Michael Gurian (2013). As an octogenarian, I’m curious to discover these wonders – but no room on my bedside table yet…” – SALLY TRICE, Portland

Mainers, please email to tell us about the book on your bedside table right now. In a paragraph or two, describe the book and be sure to tell us what drew you to it. We want to hear what you are reading and why. Send your selection to pgrodinsky@pressherald.com, and we may use it as a future Bedside Table.
