Tom Womersley

Tom Womersley has joined KeyBank as a senior middle market relationship manager on the Maine Commercial Banking team. He comes to KeyBank after working for five years as a senior vice president with the Jefferies Group, a New York investment bank. He previously served for 10 years in various investment banking roles at Credit Suisse in New York and Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London. Womersley, who holds dual U.S. and British citizenship, earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Rebecca Alfredson

Lee Klarman

Rebecca Alfredson and Lee Klarman have joined United Way of Southern Maine. Alfredson, named director of education, holds a master’s degree in urban education policy from Brown University and has five years of experience in managing academic operations at the school level. Klarman, the new director of health, has more than 20 years of nonprofit experience, most recently with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, where he held multiple roles including South Portland area director. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in policy, planning and management at the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School.

Hallett Whipple Weyrens has hired Anna Pomerleau as the office administrator for the Portland-based law firm. Her previous experience includes working in administrative and coordinator positions at an accounting firm and a large insurance company. Pomerleau earned a business administration degree from the University of New England.

Matthew Burnham

Matthew Burnham has joined Augusta-based Rizzo Mattson Realtors as a sales agent. He is a lifelong resident of the Boothbay region who worked as a lobsterman for 17 years while also building and remodeling homes.

York Ready for Climate Action, a grassroots citizens’ organization, has hired Marina Mails as executive director, the first employee for the organization. She most recently served as co-director and operations director of a national climate advocacy organization, The Climate Mobilization. In that role, she managed finances, compliance and human resources for five years. Mails holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree in counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

PROMOTIONS

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry has promoted Nancy McBrady to deputy commissioner. Since 2019, she had served as director of the department’s Bureau of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources. Before joining DACF, she was the executive director of the Wild Blueberry Commission of Maine. Craig Lapine was promoted to McBrady’s former role, as director of the bureau. Lapine had served as special assistant to DACF Commissioner Amanda Beal since 2020. Previously, he ran an agricultural education and food access organization for 18 years. Jo D. Saffeir is DACF’s newly appointed special assistant to the commissioner. Saffeir has deep experience in the natural resources and conservation fields and formerly was executive director of the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund. In addition, Shane Miller is Baxter State Park’s new lands manager, leading all aspects of the park’s Scientific Forest Management Area, with a focus on long-term sustainability and scientifically sound silviculture.

J.B. Sullivan

The John T. Gorman Foundation, based in Portland, has named Rebecca Hatfield and J.B. Sullivan to its board of directors. Hatfield is president and chief executive officer of Avesta Housing, and serves on the boards of the Genesis Fund, the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, Camden National Corp. and Camden National Bank. Sullivan is principal and chief executive officer of Portland Global Advisors, a wealth management firm. He is a former trustee of the Maine Community Foundation and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, and a member of the Investment Committee of the Maine Community Foundation.
