Old Man Winter is giving it his best shot to keep snow and cold hanging around Maine this week.
A storm developing over the Ohio Valley is set to move on an inland track through New England tonight and tomorrow. Warm air for February will be pulled far north during the night and into Friday. It’s a common theme we’ve experienced this winter in Maine.
Winter weather advisories are up for the western mountains and northern Maine. The highest amount of snow will fall north of Bangor, with several inches piling up in the County.
There won’t be much ice with this system, but a light icing could occur in the foothills.
It will rain from start to finish along the coast with snow changing to rain inland, except in Aroostook County where it will stay snow.
Here’s a look at precipitation amounts.
Once we get past this storm there aren’t many more opportunities for fresh snow. I’d take advantage of the good conditions this weekend if you’re inclined. The medium to long range weather pattern features above-average temps.
