Azline Maurais hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left in overtime to Sanford a 49-47 girls’ basketball win over Gorham Tuesday night at Sanford.
With Sanford (1-1) trailing by a point, Maurais brought the ball down in transition, stopped just beyond the 3-point line and hit what proved to be the winner.
Gorham (1-1) missed a shot with about 5 seconds left and Sanford rebounded to end it.
Julissa McBarron scored 18 points to lead the Spartans. Riley Hebler added 13.
Vanessa Walker scored 20 points for Gorham, which trailed 33-28 through three quarters before rallying to force overtime.
CHEVERUS 55, DEERING 12: Emma Lizotte had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Stags (1-1) over the Rams (0-2) at home in Portland.
Maddie Fitzpatrick added nine points, six assists and six steals for Cheverus.
Meseret Day led Deering with four points.
MT. ARARAT 55, CAMDEN HILLS 32: Cali Pomerleau scored 16 points and Elena Willis had 12 as the Eagles (2-0) cruised past the Windjammers (0-1) in Camden.
Julianna Allen chipped in eight points for Mt. Ararat.
Leah Jones led Camden Hills with nine points.
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 76, POLAND 27: Sarah English had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Angel Huntsman had 14 points and 10 assists, powering the Panthers (2-0) to a win over the Knights (0-2) in Yarmouth.
Madilyn Onorato added 14 points and six rebounds for NYA.
Althea Thornton scored 18 points for Poland.
BONNY EAGLE 45, PORTLAND 32: Kaitlyn Bartash scored 14 points as the Scots (2-0) topped the Bulldogs (1-1) in Standish.
Ember Hastings had 10 points for Bonny Eagle.
Baleria Yugu scored a game-high 15 points for Portland.
MARSHWOOD 45, YORK 41: Savannah Nashwinter scored 14 points as the Hawks (1-1) put up a 21-point fourth quarter to come back and beat the Wildcats (0-2) in South Berwick.
Shelby Anderson had 10 points and six rebounds for Marshwood. Sarah Theriault had eight and eight.
York’s Nya Avery led all scorers with 21 points.
SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 45, PINE TREE ACADEMY 26: Breckyn Winship had 16 points and seven steals to lead the Guardians (1-1) over Pine Tree Academy (0-1) at Eliot.
Ellie Leach added 16 points and Bri Cluff hauled in 10 rebounds for Seacoast, which used a 19-7 run in the third quarter to put it away.
Paige Tyson led Pine Tree with 16 points.
FALMOUTH 50, KENNEBUNK 34: Anna Turgeon led the Navigators (2-0) with 20 points in a victory over the Rams (1-1) in Kennebunk.
Ruby Sliwkowski scored 11 for Kennebunk.
CAPE ELIZABETH 26, WAYNFLETE 17: Meghan Conley and Olivia Manning scored eight points each as the Capers (1-1) defeated Waynflete (2-1) at Cape Elizabeth.
Cape Elizabeth led 6-0 after the first quarter and 14-7 at halftime against the Flyers, who were led by Yen Wilson with six points.
WESTBROOK 59, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 39: Kylie Young put up a game-high 22 points as the Blue Blazes (1-1) rolled past the Raiders (0-2) in Fryeburg.
Natalie LaBrie chipped in 14 points for Westbrook. Madison Cole had nine points.
Sydney Shaw scored 13 points for Fryeburg and Mina Milosevic had 12.
