BIDDEFORD — Alice M. St. Michel, 98, formerly of Arundel, Maine, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at St. Andre’s Healthcare.
A daughter of Phoebe Jalbert and Ernest Labbe, Alice was born on Sept. 4, 1924, in Biddeford, Maine. She was the oldest of 12 children and attended St. Andre’s school.
In July of 1948, Alice married the love of her life Ovila St. Michel, and they were married for 60 years.
Alice worked at Elm laundry, York Manufacturing Company, Bates Manufacturing, and Morning Star Corporation to which she retired at the age of 62 and was proud of the jobs she had.
Alice enjoyed playing her guitar and performing in a band during her younger years. After Alice retired, she enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, canning, and caring for her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays and spending time with her family.
Alice is preceded in d:eath by her, husband, Ovila; seven brothers; one sister; and one grandchild.
She is survived by: two sisters, Jeannette Goulet of Arundel and Sister Pauline Labbe of Atkinson, New Hampshire; one brother, Conrad Labbe of Lyman; her five children, Robert St. Michel (Pearl) of Biddeford, Richard St. Michel (Carol) of Old Orchard Beach, Roger St. Michel (Susan) of Lyman, Elaine Valliere Wittig (Jeffery) of Saco, and Ronald St. Michel of Derry New Hampshire. Alice is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank the third-floor staff at St. Andre’s for caring for our mother.
A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 178 Elm St., Biddeford; committal will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 120 West St., Biddeford.
Hope Memorial Chapel is respectfully handling Mrs. St. Michel’s arrangements.
