Music of Elvis Presley at two concerts

The Kennebunkport Historical Society will host two concert featuring the music of Elvis Presley, the first at 7 p.m. Wednesday and the second at 1 p.m. Sunday, both at The Town House School, 135 North St.
Musicians Mark Gunter, Dana Pearson and Ron Breton will perform. Tickets are $18 and are available online at eventbrite.com/e/mid-week-music-concert-elvis-tickets-250324365917.

Free caricature drawing demo

The Art Guild of the Kennebunks will present a free caricature drawing demonstration with artist Steve Hrehovcik from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dane Street Program Center, 4 Dane St.
Hrehovcik is a recent awards winner in the annual Art Awards Exhibit in the multimedia category. He has been drawing caricature for many years, along with illustrating more than a dozen children’s books and business publications.
Also, on display will be a watercolor by Peter Hoff, which is the prize of the guild’s annual scholarship raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased at any of the Guild events throughout the year.

Harvest Dance to benefit Thanksgiving Basket Program

York County Shelter Programs will hold its 13th Annual Harvest Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Sanford Elks Lodge, at 13 Elm St. Proceeds are to benefit for its Thanksgiving Basket Program.
Music for the dance will be provided by DJ Gratitude. Tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door or by calling YCSP staff members Scott Davis at 502-0520, Stacy Irving at 651-5538, or Bonnie Leslie at 324-1137, ext. 109.
Bring a non-perishable item to be eligible for drawings. There will also be door prizes and 50/50 drawings.

Touch-a-Truck event

Casella Waste Systems, Falmouth’s curbside trash and recycling provider, will host a Touch-A-Truck event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Westbrook Transfer Station, 594 County Road.
The event also will feature children’s activities, food, and a charity raffle.

Talk on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias

The talk “Brass Ring Memoirs,” a presentation about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, will be offered at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southern Maine Agency on Aging at 30 Barra Road or online via Zoom.

Schools hosting benefit road races

St. James School and St. Thomas School will host fundraising road races this Saturday to support the schools’ collective mission to provide Catholic education for students.
The St. James Trot for Catholic Education 5K and Fun Run will be held at St. James School,25 Graham St., Biddeford. The 5K starts at 9 a.m., with a kids’ fun run to follow. A virtual option to participate is also available. The cost for the 5K is $25 and the fun run is $15. A race shirt designed by a St. James student is included. The St. Thomas Mingle Jingle Run 5K will start at the Memorial Gymnasium, 678 Main St., Sanford. Registration is available online or the day of the race at 8 a.m. The in-person race will begin at 9 a.m. The family-friendly event features post-race refreshments and awards for best holiday costumes and the alumni participants. Workshops and groups at the library this week

Wells Public Library will offer the following programs for youth and adults this week at 1434 Post Road:
• Teen National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) invites writers in grades 5 and up to put pen to paper in hopes of creating a first draft of a novel in November. The event will begin at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday with prompts, sprints, and writing fuel provided.
• The Adult Nonfiction Book Group will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss “Give People Money” by Annie Lowrey.
• Join Chris Boucher at 4 p.m. Thursday for an interactive writing workshop for ages 11 and through adult.
• “Great Decisions,” a discussion on the major global issues of our time, will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Opening reception for art educators’ exhibit

The works of 38 arts teachers from around the state who are affiliated with Maine Art Education Association (MAEA) will have their works featured in “NEXUS: Intersection of Teaching + Learning,” to be exhibited Thursday through Nov. 8 in the front window of our Porteous building at 522 Congress St.
The public is invited to join the featured teachers from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday for a reception in the lobby during Friday’s Portland Art Walk.

Bring things to recycle, repurpose, reuse

A Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose collection event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays at Tuttle Road Community Church, 52 Tuttle Road.
Items being sought include: winter coats that are in good condition; sneakers, in any condition; lamps, in working condition; and used masks, surgical, KN95 and other disposable paper masks, to be recycled; no cloth masks please.

Lincoln Academy holding open house

All prospective students are invited to Lincoln Academy’s 2022 Prospective Student Open House at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Alumni Dining Commons on the Lincoln Academy campus at 81 Academy Hill.
Any student living in a town with secondary school choice can attend LA with their tuition paid by the sending town. LA also accepts tuition-paying students who come from towns without school choice.

Culturefest is Nov. 5

The University of Maine Office of International Programs and International Student Association will host its 35th Culturefest celebration from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the New Balance Student Recreation Center at 22 Hilltop Road.
The event will feature international foods, cultural exhibits, children’s activities and a style show. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
This year, more than 30 countries will be represented by over 100 participants.

New Hope Midcoast, a domestic violence resource center, will hold a sale of new and gently used adult and children’s clothing from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wiscasset Community Center.

Community Shopping, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free and open to the public. Net proceeds benefit New Hope Midcoast’s comprehensive services for individuals affected by domestic abuse.
