Madison Raymond scored on a header off a free kick with 5:43 remaining, lifting fifth-seeded York to a 2-1 win over top-seeded Cape Elizabeth in a Class B South girls’ soccer semifinal Saturday in Cape Elizabeth.

Cami White put York (8-5-4) ahead midway through the first half. Noelle Mallory tied it 6:47 into the second half for Cape Elizabeth (15-1), the three-time defending state champion. The Capers had a 23-game winning streak snapped.

YARMOUTH 2, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Macy Gilroy and Ava Feeley scored in the second half, lifting the second-seeded Clippers (13-3) past the 11th-seeded Patriots (7-8-2) in a Class B South semifinal in Yarmouth.

Gilroy put in a cross from Aine Powers eight minutes into the second half, then delivered a cross than resulted in a header by Feeley with 10 minutes left.

Regan Sullivan made two saves for Yarmouth, which advanced to the regional final Wednesday at Lewiston High against fifth-seeded York.

Gray-New Gloucester’s Isabelle Ross finished with eight saves.

CAMDEN HILLS 3, BANGOR 1: Britta Denny’s goal just 1:23 into the game started the third-seeded Windjammers (12-3-1) on their way to a Class A North semifinal win over the second-seeded Rams (10-2-4) in Bangor.

Brenna Mackey and Sydney Stone also scored for the Windjammers, who will play No. 1 Brunswick in the regional final Tuesday at Cony High.

Ani Roberts got a late goal for Bangor.

MARANACOOK 2, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Addie Watson scored her second goal of the game just 17 seconds after a tying goal late in the first half, and the second-seeded Black Bears (15-0-1) beat the No. 6 Seagulls (10-6) in a Class C South semifinal in Readfield.

Watson gave Maranacook an early lead when she headed in a corner kick by Natalie Mohlar. Elise MacNair tied it for OOB in the 36th minute, but Watson’s quick response helped the reigning state champions advance to the regional final Wednesday at Mt. Ararat High against No. 5 Waynflete.

WAYNFLETE 6, TRAIP ACADEMY 2: Myles Culley scored four goals and set up the go-ahead goal by Matt Adey in the second half as the top-seeded Flyers (14-1-1) advanced to the Class C South final with a win over the fifth-seeded Rangers (12-4) in Portland.

Traip led 2-1 on goals by Jack Peyron and Quinn Alessi before Jacob Woodman tied the game with a one-time volley off a corner kick late in the first half. Adey then put the Flyers ahead with about 27 minutes remaining after a long free kick by Culley.

Waynflete will face Mt. Abram or Monmouth Academy in the regional final Wednesday at Mt. Ararat High.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, GARDINER 0: Philip Coupe had a goal and an assist in the first half to lead the top-seeded Capers (15-0-1) over the fifth-seeded Tigers (10-6-1) in a Class B South semifinal in Cape Elizabeth.

Coupe headed a corner kick from Eddie Caldera to Keegan Lathrop, who one-timed a shot to the right of Gardiner keeper Connor Fairservice in the 22nd minute. Coupe then headed in a corner kick by Sebastian Moon about eight minutes later.

The Capers will face No. 3 Yarmouth in the regional final at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lewiston High.

YARMOUTH 1, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Steve Walsh’s goal in the fourth minute was enough for the third-seeded Clippers (12-2-2) in a Class B South semifinal win over the seventh-seeded Raiders (11-6) in Yarmouth.

BRUNSWICK 2, MT. ARARAT 0: Jack Banks scored in each half to lead the third-seeded Dragons (12-3-1) past the second-seeded Eagles (12-2-2) in a Class A North semifinal in Topsham.

Brunswick will play fourth-seeded Lewiston for the regional title on Tuesday at Cony High. Lewiston upset top-ranked Edward Little, 1-0, in the other semifinal.

FIELD HOCKEY

CHEVERUS 5, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Taylor Tory and Mackenzie Cash each scored twice and the top-ranked Stags (16-0) advanced to the Class A South final by defeating the fifth-seeded Golden Trojans (10-6) in Portland.

Cheverus led 2-0 after the first quarter, on goals by Joey Pompeo and Tory. Tory made it 3-0 in the second quarter when she knocked in the rebound of a Lucy Johnson shot, and Cash’s first goal gave the Stags a 4-1 edge at halftime.

Johnson assisted on both of Tory’s goals, as well as Cash’s final goal – a tip-in off a penalty corner.

The reigning state champions will play for another regional title Wednesday at Biddeford’s Waterhouse Field against sixth-seeded Windham.

WINDHAM 3, GORHAM 1: Grace Joly and Emma Morrison each tallied a goal and an assist as the sixth-seeded Eagles (11-5) topped the seventh-seeded Rams (10-6-1) in a Class A South semifinal in Windham.

Zoe Dries also scored and Emma Theriault made seven saves for Windham.

Gorham got a first-quarter goal from Abby Chamberlain. Madison Tibbals had nine saves.

FREEPORT 6, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: Emily Groves notched a hat trick with three second-half goals, and the third-seeded Falcons (12-3-1) advanced to the Class B South final with a victory over the second-seeded Capers (13-3) in Cape Elizabeth.

Freeport lost both regular-season games to the Capers by one goal, but the Falcons took control early this time, getting goals from Anna Maschino and Liza Flower for a 2-0 lead.

Maschino and Sophie Bradford each finished with a goal and an assist. Freeport goalie Piper Williams made eight saves.

Grace Gray and Sophia Chung scored for the Capers.

YORK 2, LEAVITT 0: The top-seeded Wildcats (15-1) got goals from Abigail Armlin and Abby Dickson in a two-minute span in the second quarter as they advanced to the Class B South final with a victory over the fourth-seeded Hornets (12-4) in York.

York avenged a loss to Leavitt in last year’s regional semifinals. The Wildcats next face third-seeded Freeport on Wednesday at Biddeford’s Waterhouse Field.

SKOWHEGAN 5, MT. ARARAT 0: Laney LeBlanc recorded three goals and an assist to pace the top-seeded Eagles to a Class A North semifinal win over the fourth-seeded Eagles (10-6) in Skowhegan.

Norie Tibbetts and Layla Conway also scored for Skowhegan, who will face No. 2 Oxford Hills in the regional final Wednesday at Gardiner High.
