Have you noticed how much is going on right now? It’s hard to keep track of all the events, so for some help with that in my particular area of expertise, I’ve compiled a not-at-all-comprehensive list of fun cocktail-related happenings on the horizon.
Saturday: Stroudwater Distillery is offering a Fall Infusion Workshop at 6 p.m. for $20. Ticket includes a guided tasting of all of Stroudwater’s spirits, but bottles are sold separately for you to infuse with your choice of herbs, spices, and/or fruits. Follow one of the distillery’s recipes or create your own signature blend. For tickets, go to eventbrite.com.
Wednesday, Oct. 26: Three of Strong Spirits is offering a Zombie class at 5:30 p.m. for $40.95. To be clear, this is a class on how to make a Zombie cocktail, not a class on how to become an actual Zombie. Ticket includes tastes of the individual spirits, a full-sized cocktail, a popcorn bowl and the instruction itself. Bowl of brains not included. For tickets, more information and the distillery’s full event calendar, go to threeofstrongspirits.com/happenings.
Wednesday, Oct. 26: Luna Rooftop Bar at the Canopy Portland Waterfront hotel is pairing with Lady in the Moon for a Witchy Wednesday tarot card reading from 5-8 p.m. Sign-ups are first come, first served. While you’re there, you can check out the new fall cocktail menu, as well as the Lady in the Moon retail wall takeover in the lobby. Find more information at Luna Rooftop Bar on Facebook.
Oct. 28: The annual Meet Your Maker event as part of Harvest on the Harbor will take place at O’Maine Studios at 6 p.m., but you must purchase tickets in advance. The $67.95 ticket includes tastings of cocktails made with local spirits from members of the Maine Distillers Guild, plus food pairings from Pemberton’s Gourmet Foods (based in Gray), beer from Shipyard, and live music by the Hadacol Bouncers, who specialize in a hybrid of New Orleans jazz, Chicago-style jazz, novelty songs and other classics. Purchase tickets at harvestontheharbor.com.
Nov. 4: On the first Friday of each month, Stroudwater Distillery hosts a Salsa Night. The $20 ticket gets you an hour of instruction from 7-8 p.m., followed by a Latin dance party from 8-11 p.m. For more information about the distillery, go to stroudwaterdistillery.com.
Nov. 12: Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport is offering a mixology class at 2 p.m. for $75 as part of Kennbunkport Hotel Week. Ticket price includes instruction on how to prepare classic cocktails, as well as four cocktail tastings. For tickets and more information about this and other events happening at Earth, go to earthathiddenpond.com/specials.
Nov. 18: Batson River Holiday Camp returns, featuring 38 days of spirited fun at the restaurant, brewery and distillery’s locations in Kennebunk, Portland, Wells and, soon, Biddeford. There will be jolly cocktails, nostalgic holiday movie nights, games, live entertainment and more, capping off with a New Year’s Eve party and a New Year’s Day brunch. And if that’s not enough festivity for you, in mid-January its Winter Camp returns, with a winter wonderland ski lodge theme and an ode to winter sports. Signature cocktails will of course be involved. For more information about Batson’s locations and hours of operation, go to batsonriver.com.
