Land trust foliage walk
Presumpscot Regional Land Trust will host a fall foliage walk at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, through the forest and along the river at its Hawkes Preserve, accessible at the Great Falls School trailhead off Justice Way.
There will be a walk for adults and and a walk for families, which includes scavenger hunts and other activities for children. The event is free, but space limited. Registration is required by visiting prlt.org/event-signup-fallfoliage.
North Gorham meet the candidates
Candidates for Gorham Town Council and School Committee will be available to meet the public at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the North Gorham Public Library, at the corner of North Gorham and Standish Neck roads. For more information, call 892-2575.

Pumpkin Fest
Pumpkin Fest is set for 1-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Gorham Masonic Hall, 33 Cressey Road. Activities include face and pumpkin painting, a bounce house, autumn card workshop, games, snacks, and prizes. The event is sponsored by Pleasant River Windham & Hope assemblies, units of International Order of Rainbow Girls.
Moody’s party
The Town Council last week issued a large, outdoor event license for Moody’s Collision Center’s 45th anniversary at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, on Raceway Drive off Narragansett Street (Route 202). The celebration includes food trucks, music, a bonfire and fireworks. To enter Moody’s Sprint Cup, call 839-2500.
Triad correction
Gorham/Windham/Westbrook Triad group will meet at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Gorham Police Department, 270 Main St. Triad is a collaboration of civic organizations, businesses and law enforcement to promote the well-being of seniors.
50 years ago
The American Journal reported on Oct. 11, 1972, that the Gorham High School Alumni Association was to have its annual meeting Oct. 21 with a dinner at the school followed by a tour of the building by Principal Phil Dugas.
U.S. taxpayer debt
The Treasury Department reported on Oct. 6 that the U.S. public debt was $31,149,119,741,274.67.
