The Middle Eastern restaurant Baharat will close for good at the end of September after more than five years in business in Portland’s East Bayside neighborhood.

Baharat announced its plan to close on its Facebook page Thursday, but gave no reason for the decision and did not return a message seeking an explanation.

The Facebook post said Baharat will remain open Fridays and Saturdays from 4-9 p.m. until the end of next month.

“It has been an incredible experience serving you, and we look forward to sharing our new project when the time comes,” the post said.

Baharat began as a food truck named CN Shawarma before transitioning to its brick-and-mortar location on Anderson Street in 2017 and since has frequently landed on lists of Portland’s dining hot spots.
