The MEMIC Group has hired Rosanne Wess to its loss control team as a safety management consultant.
Wess brings nearly a decade of occupational safety and health experience, with specialized skill in the construction, manufacturing and healthcare industries.
Wess previously worked for Maine’s only Level One trauma center as an occupational safety industrial hygienist, handling COVID-19 response and construction safety oversight.
Kris Dorer of Scarborough has joined the Greater Portland Board of Realtors as chief executive officer. Dorer, of Scarborough, brings over 30 years of experience in association and nonprofit management. Dorer will represent the board’s more than 1,800 members throughout 15 towns in the region.
Elisabeth Fontugne has joined the law firm Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow. Fontugne previously worked as a litigation attorney for Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A. in Tampa, Florida. Over the past six years, she successfully defended hundreds of matters, ranging from nursing home negligence cases to claims brought under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Sevee & Maher Engineers announced two new hires.
Thomas Neilson joined the firm as a senior geologist. Neilson brings more than 10 years of experience performing geologic and hydrogeologic assessments for drinking water supply, environmental site investigation and site remediation projects.
Peter Mohlin was hired as an environmental compliance specialist. Mohlin is a project manager with over 12 years of diverse experience in civil engineering, environmental regulatory compliance, reporting, permitting, licensing, remediation, and human health and safety.
PROMOTIONS
Camden National Bank has promoted William “Bill” Martel to executive president, chief technology officer. Martel has been part of the executive leadership team since 2020 as executive vice president of technology and support services. Martel previously served as head of U.S. technology operations for Santander U.S. in Boston.
Skowhegan Savings announced the promotion of Amanda Bell to community banker based in Dexter. Bell has over 20 years of banking experience, starting her career with the bank in 2002 as a check processing clerk.

Cross Insurance has acquired Maine Insurance Agency of Portland, a fifth-generation family-owned business. Cross Insurance, which was founded in 1954, has grown extensively through the acquisition of more than 120 insurance agencies throughout the Northeast. The company now has 1,000 employees operating out of offices in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Florida.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
The Natural Resources Council of Maine announced four new members on its board of directors.
Sam Day, of Dresden, owns a small construction company that specializes in energy-efficient remodels and new construction. He also served on the board of Maine Rivers.
Anthony Eames, of South Freeport, serves as managing director of responsible investment strategy for Calvert Research and Management, an affiliate of Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
Diana McDowell, of Lamoine, is an artist from Mount Desert Island region who worked for Friends of Acadia as director of finance and administration for two decades.
David Schylling, of Pemaquid Peninsula, partnered with his brother to create one of the country’s leading specialty toy brands, Schylling Toys, where he pushed for sustainable production throughout their global supply chain.
RECOGNITIONS
Pete Harrington, partner and associate broker at Malone Commercial Brokers, was honored with the Maine Commercial Association 2022 REALTOR of the Year Award. Harrington has been a leading retail leasing and sales expert of commercial property in the Greater Portland area since 1996.
Betsy Richards joined the Abbe Museum as executive director and senior partner with Wabanaki Nations. For the last decade, Richards has led The Opportunity Agenda’s national cultural strategy initiatives with artists, influencers, and advocates to shift narrative, culture, and policy toward greater economic and racial justice.
