Buxton 250th to cause traffic delays

Buxton Police Chief Troy Cline said motorists should expect traffic congestion this weekend as the town celebrates its 250th birthday.

The celebration kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday in Weymouth Park.

“There will be numerous events on the field and motorists should expect delays on Beech Plains Road (Route 112). This event may also impact traffic at the intersection of Routes 112 and 202 or the Tory Hill intersection as it is locally known,” Cline said.

“The events at Weymouth Park close at 9 p.m. and motorist may see an increase of pedestrian traffic in the area and should use caution and slow down.”

Numerous events including a parade are scheduled on Saturday at Tory Hill that are expected to cause delays.

“We would ask that everyone be patient and respectful of those working the events,” Cline said.

These are family friendly events and police want everyone to have a great time, he said.
