The Durham Board of Selectmen has called for a Special Town Meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Eureka Center to gain residents’ approval to appropriate American Rescue Plan Act funds for “critical capital projects,” according to the board.
The town received $421,000 in ARPA funds and is asking to appropriate $34,500 to repair the malfunctioning heating and cooling system at the Town Office, along with $23,230 to install air conditioning at the fire station office.
Also being requested is $45,000 for technology upgrades at the Town Office, fire station and Public Works, along with $16,000 for GIS tax mapping.
Public hearings will be held so residents can help decide how the remaining $302,270 in ARP funds should be spent.
