BIDDEFORD — Eugene A. Guerin, 77, of Biddeford, passed away on June 27 at his home in Biddeford.
To those who knew him, he was “Gene.” Gene was born in Biddeford and attended local schools, graduating from St. Louis High School in 1963. Gene met the love of his life, Simone, in high school and they married in November of 1965. Gene became actively involved in his community. He was involved in the Boy Scouts for over 58 years, teaching many of them life skills and merit badges, helping many attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Gene was very active and involved in the many activities of his children and grandchildren. Whether cheering on his children and grandchildren at a sports activity, watching his son perform in community theatre on stage, or grandchildren’s dancing and musical performances, you could always count on Gene being there. What was most important to Gene was his family.
Gene could be seen having breakfast with his brothers, Ronald and Arthur every Friday morning at Lucky Loggers Landing. The brothers and their wives gathered to play cards on Friday nights at least once a month. Gene loved fishing, loved to go camping, and led many a trip canoeing down the Saco River. Prior to retiring, Gene worked as a Purchasing Manager for Haleys Sheet Metal Shop. Gene was an active member of the Old Orchard Beach 1907 Fire Society.
Gene is survived by: his wife, Simone Guay Guerin of 56 years; his son, Scott Guerin and partner Andy Colloton; his daughter, Susan Guerin-Staples and her husband Lee Staples Jr.; his daughter, Michelle Magnant, and her husband Ray Magnant; his brother, Arthur Guerin Sr. and wife Jeanne Guerin; his brother, Ronald Guerin and wife Priscilla Guerin; his grandchildren, Cassandra Guerin, Kira Mills, Amber Magnant, Reid Dube and Kayla Magnant; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, July 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford. The family invites family and friends to join them in a celebration of Gene’s life on Wednesday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
