FREEPORT — An RBI single by Robert Landry helped lead the way for the Freeport baseball team to take a 5-2 win over Fryeburg Academy on Monday.

Nathan Abbott threw a seven-hitter for Freeport (8-1), striking out six batters.

Brian Martinez cracked a two-run homer for the Raiders (1-7).

 

EDWARD LITTLE 10, BRUNSWICK 6: The Red Eddies (4-5) rebounded from a rough start to rally past the Dragons (0-8) in Brunswick.

Edward Little trailed 5-0 after one inning and 6-0 after two, but Brody Keefe relieved and shut down Brunswick the rest of the way, striking out six.

Aiden Gonzalez had three hits, three RBI and two runs for the Red Eddies, who scored two in the fifth, six in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Sam Masse, Thomas Harvey and Declan Lay each had a pair of hits for the Dragons, and Anthony Cooley hit a triple.

BRUNSWICK 16, EDWARD LITTLE 2: The Dragons (7-0) broke open a close game Monday by scoring 14 runs through the third and fourth innings to roll past the Red Eddies (2-7) 16-2 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game.

Kelsey Sullivan hit a three-run homer — her seventh long ball of the season — in the fourth inning. She had three hits, including a double and five RBIsSophia Moorin and Morgan Foster each had three hits each for the Dragons. Morin drove in four runs.

 

MT. ARARAT 3, MESSALONSKEE 2: Megan Reed pitched a five-hitter with one walk and three strikeouts as Mt. Ararat (2-5) edged visiting Messalonskee (2-5) in Topsham.

Reed, Reagan Robertson and Sydney Stewart each had drove in a run during a three-run fourth inning for Mt. Ararat.

Gabby Sienko and Maddie Wilson each had a RBI for Messalonskee, which scored their runs in the top of the fourth.

MORSE 10, ERSKINE ACADEMY 5: Delaney Pascuzzo scored five goals to lead the Shipbuilders to a win over the Eagles in South China.

Addy Jung and Hazel Smith each had two goals for Morse (2-3).

Shannon McDonough had two goals for Erskine (2-5).
