The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic is returning to a traditional East-West tackle football contest, just as it was for the first 30 editions of the high school senior all-star game that benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Organizers of the event on Friday unveiled this year’s rosters, which will have East and West teams after last year’s 7-on-7 tournament that featured eight different teams. The event was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event will be held at Lewiston High’s Don Roux Field for the second straight year. This year’s game is scheduled for Saturday, July 16, at 4 p.m.
The West roster includes Fitzpatrick Trophy winner Caden McDuffie of Cape Elizabeth and Gaziano Offensive Lineman of the Year Thomas Horton of Bonny Eagle. Class A champion Thornton Academy has three players on the West roster – quarterback Jack Emerson, tight end/linebacker Cody Ruff and lineman Seth Beyea.
Windham quarterback Will Ledbetter, who joined McDuffie and Horton as a Fitzpatrick Trophy finalist, is on the East roster.
