The Feb. 20 article about the Ghost Army’s role in helping win World War II (“Mainers among them, ‘Ghost Army’ tricked Nazis to give Allies an edge,” Page A1) brought to mind an excellent book by Maine writer Paul Janeczko, titled “Secret Soldiers: How the U.S. Twenty-Third Special Troops Fooled the Nazis.”

In captivating detail, it recounts how the Army used sound engineers, set designers, painters and others to deceive the Nazis. The book’s intended audience is children, and my grandsons both really enjoyed it. I thoroughly enjoyed it as well!
