We are in favor of the building cap limiting residential development in the village center and village residential to 15 building permits versus the unlimited building permits we currently have. We have TIF (tax increment financing) districts that pay taxes to the town, but not to the school district, even though these developments impact the school budget. Therefore, taxes are going higher and higher to compensate for residential TIF impacts that don’t cover the taxes they generate. Taxpayers are being driven out of town because of tax increases.
I am not against building, schools, families or children. We just need to slow down the development and get it right. Voting yes on March 15 will help tap the brakes.
