Clayton “Bud” Owen Farrar
SOUTH PORTLAND – Clayton “Bud” Owen Farrar passed away at home on Feb. 16, 2022. He was born August 15, 1931 in Portland. He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton Farrar Sr. and Margaret Wescott Farrar; two sisters, Jacqueline Stover and Joan Hopkins. He is survived by his daughter Nancy lnfante from Ohio and his son Clayton from Missouri; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Bud graduated from South Portland High School in 1949 where he learned to play the piano, the trumpet and the harmonica. He started work at Cushman Bakery when he was 10 years old and worked there until he enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and served 4 years stateside, then back to work for Cushman Bakery. ln 1964, he worked for State Farm Insurance and managed it for 31 years.
He was a member of the Portland Lion’s Club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 12 years. He played in several bands in the Portland area. He was a very good wood worker. He loved playing cribbage and was very good at it. He was an umpire for little league baseball in Portland. At the age of 75, he joined a bowling league at the Big 20 in Scarborough and started riding a scooter until his health declined in November of 2021.
