Rita M. Lambert
SOUTH PORTLAND – Rita M. Lambert, 93, of Scammon Street died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Falmouth by the Sea with her loving brother by her side.
Rita was born in Gardiner on June 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Clifford W. and Laura A. (Mahany) Lambert. She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1945, St. Joseph’s College in 1965 and the earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1972.
Rita taught in the South Portland School System for 25 years, nine years at Holy Cross School, and retired as principal of the Henley School in 1988. She was a life member of the Maine Teachers Association. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in South Portland for entire adult life.
Rita was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Lambert and Constance L. Wilson and a brother, Blaine P. Lambert. She is survived by her brother, George Lambert and his wife Carole Milligan of Florida; close friends, Cathy, Maureen, Bill and Glee; several nieces and nephews.
An hour of visitation celebrating Rita’s life will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 124 Cottage Road, South Portland. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
