The singer-songwriter is also part of the folk trio Bonny Light Horsemen with Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, The Shins) and instrumentalist and producer Josh Kaufman (Hiss Golden Messenger, Bob Weir, The National). Along with tunes from their Grammy-nominated album, Mitchell will share songs from her own discography, including a self-titled album released last month.
Jud Caswell
7:30 p.m. Friday. Annex at Chocolate Church Arts Center, 804 Washington St., Portland, $15 in advance, $18 day of show. chocolatechurcharts.org
Brunswick-based singer-songwriter Jud Caswell will be doing his part to warm you up as part of the Kill the Chill concert series in Bath. His latest tune, “The Great Divide,” was released in the fall and is all about finding common ground in a hellacious political landscape. Two years ago, Caswell released the album “Live at the Seagull Shop Restaurant” which reached No. 1 on the Folk Alliance International chart. Caswell also was extremely prolific during several months of the pandemic with his “Morning Cordial” live performances of originals and covers on Facebook. All told, he recorded 149 of them. He’s the real deal.
Clem Snide
8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23. One Longfellow Square, 181 State St., Portland, $17 in advance, $22 day of show. onelongfellowsquare.com
Alt-country act Clem Snide released a cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” last year with a much slower tempo and a simple acoustic arrangement. Swoon! Then there’s the 2020 album “Forever Just Beyond,” which opens with the poignant track “Roger Ebert” and ends with the lovely “Some Ghost.” The album, BTW, was produced by Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers. Clem Snide is the moniker for singer-songwriter Eef Barzelay, borrowed from William S. Borroughs character. Clem Snide’s discography dates back to the late ’90s, so there will be plenty of tunes to choose from.
