SOUTH PORTLAND – Melissa Lynn Broderick Toomey, 47, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022.

She was born in Portland on July 2, 1974, to Helen Spaltro and Steven Joy. She was educated in local schools, graduating from South Portland High School in the class of 1992.

Melissa worked for Unum Insurance Company for more than 20 years as a project manager. She then worked for Ahold Delhazie as a Senior Project Manager and Agile Coach for the last four years.

Survivors include her husband, Sean Toomey; mother, Helen Meehan–Selleck and her stepfather, David Selleck; a brother, Gregory Joy and his wife Nicole, and their two children Brendan and Cody Joy.

She was predeceased by her father, Thomas Meehan.

Visiting hours celebrating Melissa’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19 from 10 to 12 p.m. at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
