Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Lunt
SOUTH PORTLAND – Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Lunt of South Portland, passed away peacefully with loved ones present on Feb. 8, 2022. She was born in Portland on July 12, 1933, the youngest (and likely most mischievous) daughter of Herbert L. Powers Sr. and Mabel Grover Powers. She grew up in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1951. She enjoyed attending many high school reunions.
She married the love of her life, Kenneth F. Lunt Jr. “Zeb” on Valentine’s Day in 1953. They were married for 54 happy years until Ken’s passing in September of 2007.
Betty was a stay at home mom for a short time until beginning her career at Maine National Bank in check processing and credit. Her greatest joy was raising her four beautiful children. A wonderful cook, she always had a home cooked meal on the table. Betty lived life to the fullest. She loved gardening, growing beautiful flowers. She was a talented knitter, and made Christmas stockings for her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. She always made her family and friends her first priority, and loved hosting cookouts, Sunday dinners, and holiday events.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Kenny; her sister, Dorothy Gray, and her brothers Herbert Powers Jr., and Roland Powers.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Toby Simpson and her husband Fred, son, Russell Lunt Sr. and Sherre Maynard, all of South Portland, her son, Thomas Lunt and Mary MacDonald of Cumberland, her son, James Lunt and his wife Michelle of Hollis;
her grandchildren Russell Lunt Jr. and his fiancée Tracie of Standish, Katie Simpson Gadbois of Saco, Baylee and Kaela Lunt of Hollis, Emily MacDonald of Windham, Jessica Young of Windham; her great-granddaughters Aubree Gadbois of Saco and Sophie Train of Windham. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Powers; and several nieces and nephews. Finally, she is survived by her beloved dog, Rufus.
We all will miss you, Ma….until we see you again, keep our love with you.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14 at the Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m.
