BRUNSWICK — Sela Kay scored 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Bowdoin women’s basketball team beat Hamilton, 78-41, on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and cruised, to improve to 16-4 overall, 5-2 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Sydney Jones added 17 points for Bowdoin.

Kelcie Zarle had 16 points for Hamilton (9-12, 2-7).

U. OF NEW ENGLAND 74,WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 66: The Nor’easters (12-8, 10-3 Commonwealth Coast) drained six straight free throws down the stretch, including four from Abby Cavallaro, as they topped the Golden Bears (7-13, 5-8) in Biddeford.

Cavallaro finished with 27 points, going 5-11 from 3-point range, for UNE. Allie Goodman added 16.

Abby Garaban led Western New England with 16 points.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 84, SOUTHERN MAINE 63: Megan Donovan scored 15 points and the Corsairs (13-5, 7-2) downed the Huskies (5-11, 4-3) in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Victoria Harris had 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Ashlee Aceto finished with 14 points for the Huskies.

The Corsairs erased a 28-14 deficit with a 16-2 run in the second quarter, and led 37-30 at halftime before extending it to 62-43 in the third quarter.

TRINITY 64, BATES 59: Hannah Marzo scored 18 points as the Bantams (14-5, 5-1 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (11-4, 3-3) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Samantha Gallo added 13 points for Trinity.

ST. JOSEPH’S 75, NORWICH 47: Cassandra Stapelfeld scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Monks (15-4, 9-2 GNAC) beat the Cadets (8-9, 6-4) in Norwich, Vermont.

Jayne Howe and Angelica Hurley both added nine points for St. Joseph’s.

Brittany Graham and Rachel Botala had 13 points each for Norwich.

AMHERST 59, COLBY 47: Dani Valdez and Lauren Pelosi each had 17 points as the Mammoths (15-2, 4-2) defeated the Mules (9-8, 1-7) in Waterville.

Keagan Dunbar had 16 points and Caroline Smith finished with 15 points for the Mules.

BINGHAMTON 69, UMAINE 60: Jacob Falko scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Bearcats (10-10, 7-4 America East) beat the Black Bears (4-8, 1-10) in Vestal, New York.

George Tinsley added 17 points, Tyler Bertram 12 and Dan Petcash 11 for Binghamton.

Ja’Shonte Wright-McLeish scored 20 points, Stephane Ingo 16 and Vukasin Masic 10 for Maine.

BOWDOIN 59, HAMILTON 58:  Taiga Kagitomi knocked down a jumper with 12.4 seconds left to give the Polar Bears (11-9, 3-6) the lead for good as they beat the Continentals (12-10, 4-4) in Clinton, New York.

Kagitomi led Bowdoin with 13 points, Jack Shea came off the bench and added 12, while Michael Simonds tossed in 10.

ST. JOSEPH’S 79, NORWICH 78: Nicholas Curtis made a jump shot with nine seconds as the Monks (7-14, 6-7) held on against the Cadets (10-10, 5-7) in Northfield, Vermont.

Griffin Foley had 23 points, Curtis followed with 12 and Teagan Hynes had 10 points for St. Joseph’s.

Donovan Lewis had 22 points and Jalen Olivero had 19 points for Norwich.

TRINITY 70, BATES 66: The Bantams (11-8, 2-5) made five straight free throws down the stretch to build a six-point lead late and hold off the Bobcats (8-9, 2-6) in Lewiston.

Donald Jorden had 16 points for Trinity, while Will Doiron chipped in 13.

AMHERST 74, COLBY 60: Garrett Day scored 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, and the Mammoths (13-6, 3-3 NESCAC) beat the Mules (11-9 3-4) in Amherst, Mass.

Tim McCarthy scored 10 points and Grant Robinson added nine points and eight rebounds for Amherst.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 96, SOUTHERN MAINE 57:  Adam Seablom had 19 points as the Corsairs (17-2, 9-1 Little East) beat the Huskies (9-10, 4-6) in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Marcus Azor contributed 17 points and Jackson Zancan had 11 for UMass-Dartmouth.

Steevens Phelimond added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Tim Restall had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Western New England.

Alex Kravchuk scored 24 points for UNE. Anthony Senesombath added 18 points, while Avery DeBrito had 14 points and Drake Gavin 13 for the Nor’easters.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

VERMONT 3, MAINE 1: The Catamounts (19-9-2, 16-6-1 Hockey East) took a 2-0 lead in the second period and beat the Black Bears (12-15-1, 10-10-1) in Orono.

Alyssa Holmes scored in the first period and Hailey Burns in the second for Vermont. Maine got within one on a goal by Morgan Trimper with 3:08 left in the third, but Corinne Cool scored less than a minute later for Vermont.

Jesse McPherson stopped 21 shots for the Catamounts, while Jorden Mattison recorded 12 saves for the Black Bears.

COLBY 1, HAMILTON 0: Lexi Cafiero scored a power-play goal with 2:04 left in the second period with assists from Jillian Mazzocca and Meg Rittenhouse as the Mules (13-3, 9-3 NESCAC) blanked the Continentals (8-8, 5-7) in Clinton, New York.

Sidney Molnar had 26 saves for Hamilton, while Nina Prunster turned back all 25 shots faced for Colby.

NORWICH 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Emma O’Neill had a pair of goals and an assist, while Alexa Berg stopped all 18 shots faced as the Cadets (16-5, 14-1 NEHC) shutout the Huskies (12-9, 9-6) in Northfield, Vermont.

Haley McKim recorded 36 saves for Southern Maine.

BOWDOIN 2, AMHERST 2: Jackie Miller scored with 7:48 remaining in regulation and the Polar Bears (9-6-1, 5-5-1 NESCAC) played to a tie with the Mammoths (8-7-1, 5-5-1) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Gia Massari before Amherst took the lead on goals by Rylee Glennon and Kate Pohl.

Dani Marquez had 25 saves for the Polar Bears and Caitlin Walker stopped 28 shots for the Mammoth.

U. OF NEW ENGLAND 2, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 2: Delanie Corcoran made 23 saves as the Nor’easters (6-9-1) skated to a tie with the Golden Bears (6-12-1) in Biddeford.

Meghan Hamilton and Keely Kasputis each scored for UNE.

Alexa Paoli had a goal and an assist for WNE. Sierra Dennis made 31 saves.

MEN’S HOCKEY

MERRIMACK 5, MAINE 0: Steven Jandric scored a pair of goals and the Warriors (14-11-1, 9-8 Hockey East) cruised to a win over the Black Bears (4-16-4, 2-12-2) in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Ben Brar, Max Newton and Alex Jefferies also scored for Merrimack.

Hugo Ollas had 28 saves for Merrimack, while Victor Ostman had five saves for Maine.

COLBY 3, HAMILTON 2:  John McElaney scored 1:28 into overtime and the Mules (12-3-1, 9-2-1 NESCAC) beat the Continentals (7-8, 6-7) at Waterville.

Quinn Doyle scored late in the second period to tie the game for Colby. Hamilton took a 1-0 lead in the first on a goal by Carter Dwyer. Colby tied it later in the first on a goal by Michael Thomas, before Hamilton took the lead back early in the second on a goal by Matt Gellerman.

Andy Beran stopped 12 shots for the Mules and Sean Storr recorded 33 saves for the Continentals.

NORWICH 5, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: The Cadets (12-4-4, 9-4-3 NEHC) scored four straight goals to beat the Huskies (7-9-1, 5-6-1) in Gorham.

Brett Ouderkirk, Joe Nagle, Patrick O’Neal, Bryan O’Mara and Brendon Jones all scored for Norwich. Drennan Atherton had 28 saves.

Zach Desmarais scored and Kyle Penton had 32 saves for the Huskies.

AMHERST 5, BOWDOIN 3: Ben Kuzman scored twice and the Mammoths (7-9-2, 6-6-1 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (5-8-4, 5-6-3) in Brunswick.

Albert Washco, Bobby Pearl and Patrick Callahan each scored for Bowdoin.

Bobby Luca, Connor McGinnis and Sean Wrenn each added a goal for Amherst.
