Lucy Johnson had three goals and one assist, and Lily Johnson added two goals and two assists as top-seeded Cheverus eliminated No. 5 Falmouth, 7-0, in a Class A South field hockey semifinal Saturday morning.
The Stags (16-0) will meet No. 2 Scarborough in the regional final Wednesday at Freeport High School, at a time to be announced.
Cheverus scored five goals off penalty corners, including three in the first quarter. Lucy Johnson got things started with an unassisted goal, then added another goal off a feed from Lily Johnson. Lily Johnson also assisted on a goal by Olivia McCartney for a 3-0 lead.
Lucy Johnson tallied another unassisted goal in the third quarter, before Lily Johnson scored twice off corners for a 6-0 advantage.
Zoey Radford scored the final goal, assisted by Lucy Johnson, in the fourth quarter.
Falmouth (11-5) got 10 saves from Jenna Nunley. Logan LeFevre of Cheverus made two saves.
OXFORD HILLS 1, MT. ARARAT 0: Allison Slicer scored from a scramble 1:44 into overtime, lifting the third-seeded Vikings (11-5) over the No. 2 Eagles (10-4-2) in a Class A North semifinal at Topsham.
Oxford Hills, which has never won a regional field hockey title, will play 19-time defending champion Skowhegan on Wednesday at Mt. Ararat.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
TRAIP ACADEMY 1, WAYNFLETE 0: Keira Alessi scored the only goal midway through the second half as the fourth-seeded Rangers (12-4) defeated the No. 8 Flyers (9-7) in a Class C South semifinal in Dover, New Hampshire.
Noelle Denholm assisted on Alessi’s goal. Olivia O’Leary stopped a breakaway with about eight minutes remaining and finished with three saves as Traip advanced to Tuesday’s regional final against No. 3 Maranacook at Lewiston High.
Waynflete keeper Jesse Connors made five saves.
YARMOUTH 1, MEDOMAK VALLEY 0: Ava Feeley’s goal in the first half was enough to give the second-seeded Clippers (15-1-1) a Class B South semifinal win over the third-seeded Panthers (14-3) in Yarmouth.
Kadin Davoren assisted on the goal as Yarmouth advanced to Wednesday’s regional final at Lewiston High.
BRUNSWICK 2, CAMDEN HILLS 1: Riley McAllaster and Kynli Van Leer scored for the third-seeded Dragons (14-2) against the second-seeded Windjammers (13-3) in a Class A North semifinal in Rockport.
Logan Brown and Mia Klimash each had an assist and Sophia Morin made 12 saves for Brunswick, which advances to the regional final against top-seeded Bangor (16-0) on Wednesday at Messalonskee High.
Ali Tassoni scored with an assist from Sydney Stone, and Madeline Tohanczyn made five saves for Camden Hills.
BOYS’ SOCCER
CAPE ELIZABETH 3, GARDINER 0: Tiernan Lathrop scored twice during a five-minute span of the second half and the seventh-seeded Capers (11-5-1) advanced with a win over the No. 3 Tigers (12-4-1) in a Class B South semifinal in Gardiner.
Lathrop converted a feed from Eddie Caldera in the 55th minute, then put in a header after Ben Altenburg got his head on a corner kick by Caldera in the 60th minute.
Sebastian Moon opened the scoring in the 30th minute for the Capers, who will face top-seeded Yarmouth in the regional final on Wednesday.
FOOTBALL
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 30, GARDINER 14: The third-seeded Raiders (6-3) rushed for more than 200 yards in a Class C South quarterfinal win over the sixth-seeded Tigers (3-6) in Fryeburg.
Gunner Saunders ran for three touchdowns and added another through the air to Jordan Dutton. Fryeburg moves on to play second-seeded Cape Elizabeth in the semifinals.
Gardiner quarterback Wyatt Chadwick threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Cole Braun and also scored on a 2-yard run.
LISBON/ST. DOM’S 20, POLAND 16: The Greyhounds (3-3) held off a fourth-quarter comeback by the Knights (2-4) to win a Class D regular-season finale in Lisbon.
Lisbon took a 20-0 lead into the fourth quarter on two touchdown runs by Nick Blair and one by Colby Levasseur.
Isaac Fifield helped spark the Knights’ comeback. His 48-yard punt in the fourth quarter was muffed by the Greyhounds, and Poland recovered at the Lisbon 8. That led to a Fifield 4-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion run.
After the Knights made a fourth-down stop near midfield, Fifield caught a screen pass from Lagan O’Driscoll and took it 58 yards for a touchdown. O’Driscoll connected with Nick Aube for the 2-point conversion.
Poland got the ball back once more with time running out, but a pass by O’Driscoll was tipped and intercepted.
