Nick Paterniti scored four minutes into overtime to give No. 8 Portland a 1-0 win over ninth-seeded Cheverus in a Class A South boys’ soccer prelim Friday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Wyatt Roy made seven saves for Cheverus (5-8-2) but couldn’t stop Paterniti, whose shot bounced off the near post and in.
Jose Kiala stopped five shots for Portland (10-5).
FALMOUTH 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Ben Pausman converted a Mason Quiet corner kick to open the scoring, and Charlie Adams added a pair of goals to lead the fifth-seeded Navigators (11-2-2) to a Class A South prelim victory over the 12th-seeded Rams (4-8-2) in Falmouth.
Falmouth moves on to face fourth-seeded Marshwood in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Kennebunk keeper Benjamin Urban made five saves.
SOUTH PORTLAND 5, BIDDEFORD 0: Alberto Kissaka scored two goals and Divin Mpinga added a goal and two assists as the third-seeded Red Riots (10-2-3) handled the 14th-seeded Tigers (3-12) in a Class A South prelim at South Portland.
Joe Perron chipped in with a goal and an assist and Curtis Metcalf also scored. Chris Keene and Sam Kierstead each had an assist.
Dillon Emerson made 14 saves for Biddeford. Thomas Caouette and Gavin McGillicuddy split keeper duties for the Red Riots.
MARSHWOOD 4, NOBLE 1: The fourth-seeded Hawks (12-2-1) got goals from Wyatt Yager, Trevor Wozny, Rowan Carter and Declan Fitzgerald to beat the No. 13 Knights in a Class A South prelim at South Berwick.
CAPE ELIZABETH 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Ben Altenburg finished off an Eddie Caldera corner kick just four minutes into the contest to start the No. 7 Capers (9-5-1) on their way to a win over the 10th-seeded Patriots (6-6-2) in a Class B South prelim at Cape Elizabeth.
Sam Cochran converted a penalty kick in the 44th minute, and Stewart Kelley scored with an assist from Caldera in the 73rd.
ERSKINE ACADEMY 5, POLAND 0: Holden McKenney had two goals and an assist to the lead the second-seeded Eagles (11-2-2) past the No. 15 Knights (2-12) in a Class B South prelim in South China.
Liam Perfetto, Carson Appel and Wes McGlew scored the other goals. Aiden Larrabee chipped in with two assists and Timber Parlin made three saves.
Erskine will host No. 7 Cape Elizabeth in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Trevor Robbins stopped 18 shots for Poland.
YORK 2, LEAVITT 1: The eighth-seeded Wildcats (7-6-2) battled through five sets of five penalty kicks before emerging with a win over the No. 9 Hornets (7-6-2) in a Class B South prelim at York.
York’s Roan Spencer tied the game with 2:21 left in regulation.
The Wildcats advance to face No. 1 Yarmouth in the quarterfinals.
YARMOUTH 8, MORSE 0: Aidan Kamm scored two goals, Truman Peters and Isaac Grondin each got a goal and an assist and the top-seeded Clippers (13-0-2) downed the 16th-seeded Shipbuilders (0-14-1) in a Class B South prelim in Yarmouth.
Steve Fulton, Owen Gillian, Matt Robichaud and Zhi Cowles also scored. Steven Walsh and Sawyer Flowerdew each had two assists.
Trace McFarland made 12 saves for Morse.
GREELY 6, LINCOLN ACADEMY 0: Ethan Njitoh and Owen Piesik each scored twice as the fourth-seeded Rangers (10-3-2) defeated the 13th-seeded Eagles (3-10-2) in a Class B South prelim in Cumberland.
Thomas Bennert and Liam Sheff also scored.
BRUNSWICK 4, MT. BLUE 2: Iain Clendening scored twice and Luke Patterson added a goal and an assist as the fifth-seeded Dragons (11-3-1) downed the 12th-seeded Cougars (2-13) in a Class A North prelim in Brunswick.
Mateus Nasciemento also scored, and Tommy Labbe, Luke Vazdauskas, Jack Banks each got an assist. Brady LaForge made 10 saves for Brunswick.
Joshua Greenlaw and Edan Havtan scored and Colby Ranger made 16 saves for Mt. Blue.
LISBON 8, BOOTHBAY/WISCASSET 0: Danny Levesque and Elijah Fullerton each recorded a hat trick as the No. 3 Greyhounds (13-2) beat No. 14 Boothbay/Wiscasset (0-13) in a Class South prelim in Lisbon.
BUCKFIELD 7, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 2: Hunter Driscoll scored four goals as the sixth-seeded Bucks (6-5-2) defeated the 11th-seeded Lions (1-10) in a Class D South prelim at Buckfield.
Zach Shields added a goal and an assist, Cole Brewster and Seamus Keough also scored for Buckfield, and Jaiden Jack had an assist.
Paul Tran scored on a feed from Joel Mishkin for Greater Portland Christian and also set up a goal by Isaac Steward.
Buckfield keeper Gavin Charest made four saves. Logan Hoffman stopped 13 shots for the Lions.
PINE TREE ACADEMY 3, RANGELEY 0: Chuma Johnson, Benjamin Ndamakunda and Senis Belandria Contreras scored for the fifth-seeded Breakers (10-5) against the 12th-seeded Lakers (3-8-1) in a Class D South prelim in Freeport.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 52, YARMOUTH 12: Camden Phillips opened the scoring with a 2-yard run in the first quarter and then hooked up twice with Elie Timler for touchdown passes in the second quarter as the No. 3 Phoenix (6-2) beat the sixth-seeded Clippers (1-7) in an eight-man Large School South quarterfinal at Jay.
Jackson Delfini had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second quarter for Yarmouth, which trailed 24-12 at halftime.
Reece Davis returned the second-half kickoff 80 yards for a score, then added two long TD runs – 54 and 85 yards.
THORNTON ACADEMY 42, EDWARD LITTLE 14: Jack Emerson contributed through the air and on the ground for the Trojans (8-0) as they defeated the Red Eddies (0-8) in Auburn.
A 45-yard pass from Emerson to Isaiah Jones put Thornton up 14-0 late in the first quarter, and a long run by Emerson set up a short touchdown pass to Bryant Nsengiyumva. Alex St. John and Hayden Whitney ran for scores from 59 and 79 yards and Anthony Jones returned a punt 45 yards for a score.
Edward Little quarterback Jack Keefe connected with Hunter LaChance for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns.
NOBLE 34, DEERING 0: Anthony Prak rushed for three touchdowns, and Dylan Mulligan passed for one touchdown and ran for another as the Knights (6-2) cruised past the Rams (0-8) in Portland
Prak had two 3-yard TD runs and capped the scoring with a 13-yard run. Mulligan threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Cade Barish and added a 2-yard TD run.
PORTLAND 42, LEWISTON 0: Brandon Boyle opened the scoring with a 70-yard punt return in the first quarter, and the Bulldogs (8-0) forced five turnovers in a win over the Blue Devils (1-7) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Boyle added two touchdown runs and finished with 310 all-purpose yards. Grant Crosby passed for two touchdowns – 19 yards to Nathan Isajar and 72 yards to Reegan Buck.
LEAVITT 48, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Hunter Hayes ran and threw for a touchdown to lead the Hornets (6-0) over the Raiders (5-3) in Turner.
Hayes’ 1-yard keeper opened the scoring in the second quarter and Noah Carpenter added the 2-point conversion. Carpenter later found Sawyer Hathaway for a 19-yard score before Hayes connected with Degan Jordan for a 9-yard TD pass.
Trevor Bosse, Pearson Cooper and Manny Driscoll each rushed for a touchdown.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 58, BOOTHBAY 22: Robert Leveillee intercepted five passes, returning two for touchdowns, and also rushed for two TDs and passed for another as the third-seeded Falcons (3-3) won an eight-man Small School South quarterfinal over the sixth-seeded Seahawks (3-5) in Rumford.
Airick Richard added two interceptions and scored two touchdowns – on an interception return. Kaden Paaso scored two TDs and Jonah Byam caught a TD pass.
DIRIGO 57, SACOPEE VALLEY 28: The second-seeded Cougars (6-2) scored 22 points in the second quarter to pull away from the No. 7 Hawks (1-6) in an eight-man Small School South quarterfinal in Dixfield.
Dirigo quarterback Charlie Houghton scored four touchdowns and backup QB Trent Holman tallied three touchdowns. Curtis Errington had two touchdowns runs – 22 and 55 yards.
Sacopee Valley took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter.
