FREEPORT — Freeport scored three times in the game’s first seven minutes and went on to a 4-2 field hockey victory Wednesday against Greely on Wednesday.
Kyla Havey scored off a penalty corner early in the first quarter, then Sasha Nevins added two goals in a 40-second span to give Freeport (1-3) a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Rangers (1-4) got a goal back late in the second quarter, as Leyla Rabbat scored on a rebound, but Havey answered with her second goal to make it 4-1 at halftime.
Greely drew within two again in the fourth quarter on a goal by Marisa Crowley.
Freeport goalie Victoria Balla finished with 10 saves. Savanna Harvey made 11 saves for the Rangers.
WINDHAM 6, PORTLAND/DEERING 1: A hat trick from Hannah Heanssler lifted the Eagles (4-2) over the Bulldogs (0-6) in Portland.
Heanssler scored twice in the first quarter and Elizabeth Miller added a goal to give Windham a 3-0 lead. The Eagles tacked on one more goal in each of the final three quarters.
Amanda Foss and Emma Morrison contributed a goal apiece.
Ainsley Dunn’s third-quarter goal ended the shutout bid. Ella Burdin made 23 saves for the Bulldogs.
CAPE ELIZABETH 2, LAKE REGION 1: Grace Gray netted a pair of goals as the Capers (3-0) defeated the Lakers (2-2) in Cape Elizabeth.
Abbie Homicz and Camden Woods each assisted on one of Gray’s goals. Zoe Burgard made three saves for Cape Elizabeth.
Sadie Tirrell put Lake Region on the board with a third-quarter goal. Ragan Hurt stopped six shots.
VOLLEYBALL
SANFORD/NOBLE 3, CHEVERUS 0: Sage Study recorded 12 kills, four blocks and three digs, Kora Eckelman had six kills and four blocks, and Grace Davie finished with 24 assists and two kills as the Spartans (3-1) defeated the Stags (0-3) in Portland, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.
