Portland deserves a Charter Commission with members who listen, have an open mind, and a strong understanding of how our local government works. That’s why on June 8, I am supporting Marpheen Chann for Charter Commission At-Large.

I have known Marpheen for 10 years and continue to be impressed by his ability to bring people together, listen, and get things done.

In 2014, Marpheen worked with me to stop budget cuts in the University of Maine System. He led the way by applying his understanding of the relationship between city government, the university system, and the state legislature. Marpheen organized his classmates to lobby legislators and helped me draft my bill to bring long term transparency and accountability to funding for higher education.

We can expect Marpheen to bring this same thoughtful and collaborative leadership to the Portland Charter Commission. Please join me in voting for Marpheen Chann on Tuesday, June 8.
