On June 8, Portlanders have an opportunity to make a real difference in our community: a special election. It is an opportunity often missed. Only 2,438 votes were cast in the last special election; that’s 6 percent of 42,097 ballots cast in November’s presidential election.

For every vote to create a better nation in 2020, let’s make change locally. And the June 8 Charter Commission election is a great place to start!

I’ve been particularly moved by Marpheen Chann’s passion for educating Portlanders on the charter: Seven days a week you’ll find him knocking on doors, making calls and talking to Portlanders, all while deeply listening to the needs and ideas of the people he’ll represent.

Please join me in voting to help make Portland a more just and equitable place for us all to call home – and, specifically, please join me in voting Marpheen Chann for one of the four at-large Charter Commission seats.
