Nicholas Albaum of Kennebunk, is the son of Dr. Tammi Bittler and Dr. Michael Albaum and is the valedictorian of his class. He is the National Merit Scholarship finalist, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a member of Kennebunk swim and dive (captain), Ultimate Frisbee team (captain), and a runner on the cross country team. He will be attending Brown University to study biochemistry and to continue playing ultimate frisbee.

Jack Andrews of Kennebunk, is the son of Zeb and Katie Andrews. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Helpers and competed on the football, baseball, basketball, and indoor and outdoor track teams. As a member of the track team, he was SMAA first-team all-conference in the long jump. He will be a member of the track team at Bowdoin College.

Talia Banglmaier of Kennebunk is the daughter of Sian Liem and Robert Banglmaier. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Model State, and Captain’s Club. She participated in varsity lacrosse, cross country, alpine skiing, and soccer. She has volunteered with Community Harvest. Talia will be attending Wheaton College in Massachusetts to study biology and play varsity lacrosse.

Quinn Battagliese of Kennebunkport is the son of Heather and Neil Battagliese. Quinn was a member of the National Honor Society, and the recipient of the Bowdoin Book Award. He played on the boys varsity soccer team during his freshman and senior year, in addition to playing for the Seacoast United Development Academy team. He fundraised and volunteered for the Big Andrew Foundation and other nonprofits. Quinn will attend Bowdoin College with plans to study neuroscience.

Hannah Cartwright, is the daughter of Eva Grundel and Jonathan Cartwright of Kennebunk. She is a recipient of the RIT Innovation and Creativity Award and has been a member of Art Club and a figure skater for nine years. She has been active in the community, volunteering with the Kennebunkport Historical Society and Kindergarten Jumpstart. After high school, Hannah will spend a year in Switzerland as an au pair before studying history and world languages in the UK.

Owen Chestnut, of Kennebunk, is the son of Adam and Tamara Chestnut. He was a member of the National Honor Society, and the recipient of the Yale Book Award for academic achievement. Chestnut was also a four-year academic athlete who played varsity tennis, soccer, and unified basketball. He was a member of the Math Team, Model UN, and Model State. Owen will be attending Wesleyan University as part of the class of 2025.

Taryn Comegys of Kennebunk, is the daughter of Heather Skala and Chris Skala. Her post-secondary school plans are to attend the University of Vermont and major in secondary English education. Upon Taryn’s admission, she was awarded the Presidential Scholarship and the UVM Award. She played volleyball for two years and did yearbook for one. She continually volunteers at Piper Shores, playing chess with the residents and has also volunteered at Riverton Elementary and the Nonantum Resort.

Cooper Durcan of Kennebunkport, is the son of Tracy and Mark Durcan. He was a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the Harvard Prize Book as a junior. He participated in Model State and won outstanding delegate honors at MIT’s Model United Nations. He played varsity soccer, earning SMAA all-conference honors twice, as well as varsity tennis. He will attend Colgate University in the fall.

Sarah Durham of Kennebunk is the child of Ian and Alyson Durham. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was president of the KHS Theatrical Society, as well as a member of the school’s Drama Club. She also dances at Collective Motion Arts Center in Saco. Sarah received the George Washington University Book Award and a College Board Recognition. She will attend New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to study collaborative arts on a merit scholarship.

Kevin Finn, son of Beth and Steven Finn of Kennebunk and is the salutatorian of his class. He is the secretary of National Honor Society, a member of the Executive Council, a member of Peer Helpers and the recipient of the Princeton Book Award. Kevin was a three-year varsity participant in soccer and basketball, before running cross country and indoor track his final year. He will be running track/cross country at the University of New Hampshire, where he plans to major in economics.

Sarah Hetzel of Kennebunk is the daughter of Bill Hetzel and Jennifer Niese. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Model UN, and a leader of the Environmental Club. Sarah is the recipient of the Smith College Book Award. She also participated in volleyball for three and a half years. Sarah is excited to be attending American University in Washington, D.C. this fall to major in computer science.

Oliver Leonard of Kennebunk is the son of Molly and Bruce Leonard. He played four years of baseball and basketball and earned SMAA all-academic team honors. Oliver will play Division II baseball at Shepherd University in West Virginia while studying computer science.

Benjamin Marquis of Kennebunk is the son of Stephen and Erika Marquis. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Model UN. He competed on the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field teams for four years and has qualified for the SMAA all-academic team. Ben will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall to study civil engineering.

Ian Martin of Kennebunk, is the son of Peter and Gretchen Martin. He ran cross country his first three years of high school. Ian will be going to college at the University of Maine and will be majoring in electrical engineering.

Ruth Metcalfe is the daughter of Jennifer and Michael Metcalfe of Kennebunkport. She was a member of the Debate Team, Southern Maine High School Sailing Team, National Honor Society, RSU 21 School Board, KHS Model UN team, and The Herd. Ruthie has used her voice to make a difference with the Citizens’ Climate Lobby and the Maine Youth Environmental Association. She’s the recipient of the 2020 Wellesley College Book Award and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. Ruthie enjoys painting and is excited to explore her academic interests next fall at Pomona College.

Alex Miale of Kennebunk is the son of Drew and Kristen Miale. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society and was the winner of the SMAA Citizenship Award. He also participated in Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble. He was also a member of the varsity soccer (captain), swimming and diving (captain), and track and field teams. Alex will be attending Northeastern University majoring in computer science and music technology.

Libby Shea of Arundel is the daughter of Todd and Nichol Shea. Libby earned the Dartmouth Book Award her junior year and received the SMAA all-academic award for each of her sports. She participated in her class’s Executive Council for the past three years. She also participated in Girl Talk, Peer Helpers, yearbook and, this year, she was co-president of the National Honor Society. For athletics, she participated in field hockey, alpine ski (captain), and lacrosse for every season available to her. Libby plans to attend the University of New England in the fall, studying pre-med with the future goal of becoming a sports medicine physician.

Maeve Sheehan of Kennebunk is the daughter of Bridget and John Sheehan. She was a member of the KHS Theatrical Society and acted in eight productions at the high school. She has also written for The Herd student newspaper and participated on the Mock Trial Team, serving as a prosecutor and a lead attorney. Maeve will attend the University of Pittsburgh in the honors college this fall to study psychology and theatre arts.

Katherine Sullivan of Kennebunk is the daughter of Daniel and Teresa Sullivan. Katherine participated in volleyball, alpine skiing and danced for 14 years at Sharon Arnold Lux School of Dance in Arundel. She is a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Book Award and volunteered at the pre-kindergarten Jumpstart Program at Kennebunk Elementary School. Katherine is excited to attend Penn State this fall where she will be studying architecture.

Sam Tartre of Kennebunk, is the son of Steve and Sally Tartre. He was a captain of the varsity basketball and soccer teams. Sam was named to the SMAA all-academic team. He was an attendee of the SMAA Leadership Summit. Next fall, he will be attending Boston College to study finance.
